Only need to go back to the fights this weekend. Julio Cesar Martinez won his belt Dec 20, just defended Feb. 29. And both fights were more grueling than Plant using the German dude for target practice, the opponents actually fought back

If I'm Team Plant, then there is no rush to the Canelo fight. Because a win over Benavidez increases leverage at the ginger bargaining table. Turn that 8 million into 16mil. Don't forget that Plant can sell a few tickets too.

There is no guarantee that Canelo's future will be at 168, his May fight will be at 168 only because he just jumped 2 weights to fight at 175 and doesn't want to lose that much weight overnight his next fight. He wants to slowly go back down to 160. But if he does stay at 168 he can pick whoever he wants with no shortage of bigger named more accomplished fighters then Plant all agreeing to fight canelo at whatever weight he wants. Plant and Benavidez isn't even a realistic fight until 2021 at the earliest, Benavidez has a fight scheduled then a mandatory later this year. I think Benavidez beats Plant anyway but when he does he will lose to Benavidez for way less money then he would of lost to Canelo lol

This is about keeping Plant a viable opponent for Benavidez in the future. PBC will continue feasting him on mismatches to keep him undefeated until Benavidez takes his scalp.
A loss to Canelo would not change that unless Nelo sparked him out in like a rnd. Plant would have had his biggest payday and if he actually won that is the golden ticket. If he lost and was competitive , he would have built in excuses short turn around ect.Plant's team *****ed this up.

Well Plant situation is somewhat different, in fact the entire 168 Division HAVE OPTIONS so no they're not just jumping on any and every offer that Canelo and GBP are making

With Eddie, Callum can fight Jacobs and BJS, for BJS he can fight Callum and Andrade

For Plant he has Benavidez which can be a huge fight if promoted proper on top of continuing to Draw Big on FOX so these guys are not as desperate as GBP and Canelo would like to take 3-4 Million or whatever it is to go fight Canelo

Also too, them knowing he doesn't have many options at 168 other than Lemieux which absolutely NOBODY wants to see

GBP is going to have to up those offers to one of these fighters it is no way around it. Time is ticking it is already March WTF! Might as well just make the fight with Lemieux and use the excuse that "Nobody Wants To Fight Canelo..."

More examples Tevin Farmer just fought 5 times in less then 1 year all title fights. Won his title then defended it 4 times, twice on shorter notice between fights then Plant would of had. lol

Simple solution to this problem. Why doesn't Canelo just fight benavidez? Benavidez laughed at plant not being willing to fight Canelo on short notice so you know he'd accept it. He's a better option that Saunders or Smith because he's a better fighter than both and the Mexican vs Mexican American angle on 5 de mayo makes perfect business sense.

So tell me Canelo lovers.... Why is benavidez not being mentioned at all?? I know he doesn't fit the typical Canelo preference of his opponents being 35 and older.. Or coming off of a s*** performance.... But if Canelo really wants to "chase greatness" like he tells his fans he does, benavidez seems like a better choice than a couple of Brits like Saunders who himself said his after his last fight that he was so bad, he didn't deserve a Canelo fight... Or Smith who most had losing his last fight.

The winner of Plant vs Benavidez will entice the public to demand that Canelo fights a prime champion.

Bad move for plant turning down a big pay day and considering a fight with another fighter who's probably more dangerous than canelo I'm guessing same managers who handled wilders career.
