Raise your hand if before that offer you ever heard Plant's name as an opponent for Canelo or any public pressure for Canelo to fight him? lol That's the point. There is no guarantee that Canelo's future will be at 168, his May fight will be at 168 only because he just jumped 2 weights to fight at 175 and doesn't want to lose that much weight overnight his next fight. He wants to slowly go back down to 160. But if he does stay at 168 he can pick whoever he wants with no shortage of bigger named more accomplished fighters then Plant all agreeing to fight canelo at whatever weight he wants. Plant and Benavidez isn't even a realistic fight until 2021 at the earliest, Benavidez has a fight scheduled then a mandatory later this year. I think Benavidez beats Plant anyway but when he does he will lose to Benavidez for way less money then he would of lost to Canelo lol

This is about keeping Plant a viable opponent for Benavidez in the future. PBC will continue feasting him on mismatches to keep him undefeated until Benavidez takes his scalp.

I'm not disagreeing with any of what you said there. What I am saying is at 160 Canelo has pretty ran through the competition exceptions being Charlo and Andrade and he beats both those guys IMO so campaigning at 168 is inevitable unless he retires. Plant fighting Benavidez early next year is possible and if Plant pulls out the win ( big IF ) he could publicly push for a Canelo fight which Canelo would take flack if he didnt accept. Canelo is the face of boxing but he's by no means untouchable or without critics. I'm just saying its possible for Plant to get another offer down the road even when its unlikely.

Canelo fights basically twice a year. By early next year no matter who he fights there will still be no demand or flack for Canelo to fight Plant lol whether Canelo fights at 160, 168, 175 he has

          GGG III
          Andrade
          Charlo
          Munguia
all will be bigger fights then Plant at 160

          At 168
          Saunders
          Smith
          Bivol

Guys at 175 that he could fight at that weight or catchweight
          Gilberto Ramirez
          Beterbiev

And this isn't even accounting for a unknown dark horse fighter at a lower weight jumping up to fight Canelo like a Errol Spence.

Plant is way down the list bruh and we both agree we don't even see him getting by Benavidez next year.

Plant knows his body and knows when he's at his best.
That said, sometimes the situation is not perfect when opportunity knocks. Plant's no Kovalev, a shot fighter, who has bad habits and is on the downside of his career.
Plant's 27 and in his physical prime, a fighter who stays in shape between fights.
Plant's a champion but a competitive fight with Canelo raises his profile 1000%.

The fight is on May 2. We are in March already. Plant needs weeks to rest so it's impossible for him to take this fight. The Canelo camp knows this and they want Plant for that reason. In the championship rounds you will gas out if you over train. The Canelo camp is shiat tbh. If it's not the weight it's something else they wanna use. They don't usually want 50-50 fights. You have to be green, too old, weight drained, over trained , dodgy judges or some ****ty thing. This is why there are many people who don't rate this guy.

Seems to be a trend. They try so hard to go around Al Haymon.
That's the thing to. Was there a legit offer sent to Plant's manager from Goldenboy? If all these PBC fighters are aligned with Al Haymon and he is indeed their manager why does it seem promoters won't go straight to Al to make the fight? Why try to go through a secondary guy or every avenue to avoid the person who is going to get the fight made.

We talk all the time on this site about how much influence Al has on these guys, whether it's to their benefit or detriment, so we all know who these promoters need to go through when it is all said and done.

Plant was sent the offer 3 weeks ago this is a rehash article with old quotes and news. The offer was sent before he fought his last fight. His team was asked if you beat this mismatch guy and suffer no injures do you want to fight Canelo. After his last fight he admitted to reports he got the offer and turned it down. Time of the offer he had almost 3 months more then enough time to get ready. No injuries coming off a cream puff stay busy fight he is young in his 20's why does he need all this rest?

It doesn't make sense, but I know why Oscar doesn't want to make that call! Lol! Anyway, when they do, fights get made. Wilder vs. Fury x 2! Joshua vs. Ruiz x 2! Nuff' said!
