Simple solution to this problem. Why doesn't Canelo just fight benavidez? Benavidez laughed at plant not being willing to fight Canelo on short notice so you know he'd accept it. He's a better option that Saunders or Smith because he's a better fighter than both and the Mexican vs Mexican American angle on 5 de mayo makes perfect business sense.

So tell me Canelo lovers.... Why is benavidez not being mentioned at all?? I know he doesn't fit the typical Canelo preference of his opponents being 35 and older.. Haymon is a smart guy and most likely did not approve of the fight because Plant's marketability on Fox and other platforms controlled by Haymon would plummet.
