No-one mentioning Wilder? It's been a masterclass in picking the right fights.

Every fight was picked to advance him as some kind of destroyer. He never was, but they inexplicably got him to the top table and the big money. On very limited ability.

Only in HWs can this happen, in the lighter weights BS crumbles real quick.

For comparison leonard has duran benitez hagler and hearns
You dudes crack me up, Floyd wasnt in prime either he fought them around the same level off prime, they all graduated inside the same era, prime is such a distorted throwaway statement.

Your idea of prime is a mirage, you think its a few years out of a 20 yr career, they have a prime zone and its extended across most of their career, its generally that the potential is reached quickly, then it plateaus and gets better with maturity and learning, then its a quick down turn just like there fast rise.

They had exceptional talent. Matchmaking isn't as hard when you're matching up the best of an era.

Prime means the best version of themselves... it is at a time the fights mattered most. Floyd didn’t bested his best wins at a time they mattered most. Imagine him beating pac at 09 when pac was demolishing everyone.. imagine him beating cotto at 08 when he was undefeated.. or oscar when he was 30... he would have been straight cut the goat.. prime pac win alone catapults him several ranks forwards. whether you believe it’s his fault or not there seems to be a lot smoke to trace in there.

Of course time is going to favor floyd’s style since his technique ages gracefully than offensive ones.. as history have repetitively shown us.. he fights a conservative defensive style. Compare his prime version to his 35 yr old version it’s almost identical.. now compare prime pac to his 36 yr old self. Or oscar to his 34 yr old self. They’re night and day..

I like floyd but that’s just the truth. He will always have a shot at tbe and goat.. but dissecting it reveals ugly stuffs.

Most well managed fighters are the ones from America or the UK, no one can tell me boxers from third world countries are well managed. They have it tough coming up and even when they get to the top, they still probably get looked down upon, someone like Wilder has been managed quite well, he fought no one of note until his 35th fight, i know the excuse was he started boxing late, but then you compare him to someone like Joshua who also started late then you see the discrepancy in that logic.

Yup, you have a great point in there. A lot of people don't realize how hard it is to get attention when you're a foreigner. You have to be extraordinary to capture eyes. Even that is not enough. You have to take risks and surprise people. That is their invisible handicap
