His workrate and lack of a killer instinct have always stopped me from being a fan even-though I respect his boxing ability. I went to bed after the 8th. Having Gonzalez and Mikey fight so close to each other made me appreciate what Chocolatito does in the ring. Mikey bores me some-times.

Now where was this Mikey Garcia during the Erroll, Spence, Jr. fight? Don't get me wrong. Garcia/Vargas was a still a highly competitive and hotly contested fight but Mikey looked like a whole different fighter to me. He was very loose and relax in there against Jessie Vargas. This just goes to show that Mikey knows which battles to choose and when and how to fight when he wants to.

I don't see Mikey Garcia fighting Manny Pacquiao anytime soon. Not as long as Pac still holds that WBA title he took from Al Haymon's fighter Keith Thurman. Al wants options on Manny.

There is no way Al Haymon is going to allow Pac to fight on DAZN with one of his belts. Pac might just have to relinquish that WBA welterweight title because the PBC still has options on him.

Mikey has a fight-by-fight deal with DAZN. He can go back and fight Pacquiao on a PBC show. Mikey did that on purpose, just in case Manny calls. Smart man!

Well I see. However, I thought I heard that Eddie Hearn was going to try and promote the fight.

Didn't he already fight Estrada? That fight doesn't need a rematch. I rather see Estrada with Ioka or Ancajas, something different than someone wanting to avenge a loss that happened several years ago

Solid win for Mikey. Vargas disappoints me. His balance sucks, he expends too much energy in early rounds and then has little to offer down the stretch. With all the trainer switching he's done, he hasn't improved noticeably. He throws better body shots, but that's about it. there is a serious pacing issue with him. It's serious bc it prevents him from having the energy to fight smarter in the later rounds. He has a decent beard and a lot of heart to keep himself in fights, but he's just not elite - not at 154, not at 147. Idk where he goes from here.

Mikey is just a good fighter, but this was also a very appropriate opponent for him. Mikey did look good. I think he's kind of easy to read sometimes, but only another sharp fighter is going to be able to capitalize on it.

Honestly, it was more or less the same shot picking, "one speed", love him or hate him Garcia that was in against Spence. That's just a bad style matchup for Mikey further compounded by size, with Spence's volume/workrate neutralizing Mikey's attempts to land something to turn the tide, and Mikey's reluctance to leave the turtle shell not helping. It's why I think a rematch is an awful idea for Garcia, despite feeling that's probably just talk.
