Why do people act like this heavyweight era isn’t a great one?

We’ve a great top-2 and outside the duo, it’s very loaded. I can name at least 15 great contenders that still have room to improve.

The likes of Golota, Ruddock and Shannon Briggs can’t beat Dillian Whyte, Ruiz, Povetkin and Hunter. And when you look at the likes of Joyce, Dubois, Hrgovic, the French guy and all the upcoming heavies...the era is pretty deep.

It’s dominated by one guy, which to be fair, is the norm throughout heavyweight history.

Because Wilder held the belt hostage and we didnt see the fights that we should have.
Now....it could start to heat up.

Prospects Dubois Ajagba and Hrgovic and veteran prospect (lol) Joe Joyce, as well as Hunter and whoever else - and we gotta great match between Dubois and Joyce coming up.

Then.....any fights between.any of Joshua, Fury, Whyte, Parker, Ortiz, Ruiz, Povetkin, Wilder and a few others would make great viewing.

It will probably get better now that the ducking has to stop.

How the hell you gonna compare the 2X heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs to freaking Dillian Whyte and Michael Hunter?

        Briggs beat:
        George Foreman (reigning lineal champ)
        Ray Mercer (former WBO champ)
        Siarhei Liakhovich (reigning WBO champ)

        Drew:
        Francois Botha

        Went 12 against:
Vitali Klitschko (reigning WBC champ; Briggs tore a biceps and tendon in round 1)
        Sultan Ibragimov (lost WBO title)

And stepped in there against prime Lennox Lewis.

And in 2015, Lennox Lewis told The Ring that of all his opponents, Shannon Briggs had the best punch and the fastest hands.

Complete lack of respect for the Cannon.

        Let's Go Champ!

Dominated? Fury has fought only 1 (the least skilled) of the top 10 fighters. How is that dominating?

Which guy is dominating? I hope you won’t say Fury or Wilder, two bum beaters who are yet to fight any decent boxer in the top 10? If you mention either, you have to be the dumbest loutish cu.nt on the board.

Who did Shannon Briggs beat? I don’t even rate Ortiz but he’ll mop the floor with Botha.

Lots of great potential HW matchups on the horizon. Fury-Joshua, Wilder-Whyte, Ruiz-Ortiz and Usyk-Parker can all happen in the next year, with some of the winners fighting each other as well.

I think because there haven't really been a lot of classic fights like Holyfield-Bowe, Tua-Ibeabuchi, Ali-Frazier, etc in this era.

Just don't seen skill level and stamina of fighters like in the past.

Reason its considered weak on here is because all 4 belts are held by UK fighters, if Joshua and Fury were American they would be saying we are in a golden era of heavyweight boxing. Same way 147 is considered the best because American fighters are the dominant force in the division. Its always been that way, a division is weak or 'not what it was' if its best fighters are European. In my opinion the heavy weight division is the most exciting in boxing at the moment, by quite a distance.
