Comments Thread For: Fury's Cutman Believes Wilder Should Take a Long Rest Before Rematch

LAS VEGAS - Tyson Fury's new cut man Jacob "Stitch" Duran wasn't the least bit surprised that his fighter was aggressive and did damage to Deontay Wilder Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Wilder hit the canvas twice before his corner waived off the fight in the 7th round.

Even Furys cut man telling him to take the Joshua fight ,only ones that don’t want it are his father and Arum two guys with venturing interest.

Why, are not six months enough to design a new costume?

No, no, no. Make him fight asap or at least by mid-July as per contract. Give him no time to rest, just beat da shit out of him again and put that trash on the side for a while.

I hope Wilder doesn't get too badly hurt in a third fight because it could get really nasty. Most fighters are not the same after such a beating.

Wilder does need a long rest. It was a short turn around from the Ortiz fight. I wonder if over training had something to do with his performance. I know Fury whooped him, but he looked fatigued early.

I also think he took Fury too lightly. He should have known Fury was going to be better than their last fight.

I actually like Arum's idea of having the rematch in the fall. It gives Wilder time to rest and regroup.
That may not change the outcome, but it sure wont hurt.

He needs a good break, not just to recover physically but at least as important to rebuild mentally. His whole self image has just been destroyed. That's tough to deal with. Just ask big George Foreman.

I just so happen to agree with Fury's cut man. Obviously, he won't be ready to challenge Fury for a third time. It's too soon.

He needs to take a full year off before resuming his boxing career. His body needs time to heal and rest.

Also, he needs more time to reflect and reassess his boxing career and develop into becoming a more complete and fundamentally sound boxer. Lastly, he needs to make some changes.

He needs a new boxing coach in order to teach him the basics. It's because if he loses to Fury again in an immediate rematch; He will then become a gatekeeper status.

When your only losses are to the best HW on the planet that doesn’t drop you to gatekeeper status...
