Does Wilder Have To Fire Breland For Throwing The Towel?

    I say yes.

If Wilder has told his team he'd rather die than quit or have his trainers call the fight, as dumb as that stance maybe, I think you gotta fire the guy who doesn't abide by that wish.

That said respect to Breland for what he did, but I think he's gonna be looking for a job soon. And he'll probably find a lot of smart boxers wanting to work for him along with their appreciative family's.

If he fires him for that reason - then it probably tells you he also doesn’t have the ability to accept the need to make adjustments to give him any chance in the rematch

One of replays I saw from outside the ring of the sequence showed Finkel really upset at Breland with his hands facing up asking him why he stopped it. Might be 3 against 1

He should give the man a raise and move him to head trainer. And only trainer.

Add someone to the Team, a Strategist/Technique Coach

Pay Lennox to come to your Camp and help out and oversea Camp and help with Technique.

Everybody else hiring American Trainers like Buddy McGirt, Jonathan Banks and Sugar Hill all the Foreign Fighters grabbing these guys but none of the Americans are using them which is a shame actually. Too Many Father Trainers (many who never even boxed before) as well as guys who own Gyms where you're from and out of Loyalty you're just sticking with that guy despite not improving under them at all

I wouldn't say that Wilder HAS to fire Breland. Could he choose to? I guess, but I think that would set a terrible precedent. If anything, Wilder should be more focused on what he did wrong during the fight that caused him to get stopped. After all, Breland wouldn't have thrown the towel in if Wilder was more competitive.

I'm really surprised by this. I understand Wilder's anger about the stoppage, but I expected him to later admit that Breland did the right thing. The first step to overcoming a loss is owning up to your mistakes. You look at what went wrong, and then you work on solutions. The frustrating thing about Wilder is that he's so damn physically gifted and could be amazing with the right training and game plan. I haven't heard what Wilder said about Breland, but I'm looking for the interview now. I strongly disagree with firing Mark. If he does that, I'm not supporting him anymore. I'm out.
