Seemed like someone was DDoS attacking the site or something.

A DDoS is just a bunch of bots all pinging a site at the same time.

It is the same thing as high web traffic.

The site went down from high interest in the fight.

Lennox received the honorary rank of Captain for his commentary... Hence his new moniker: "Captain Obvious."

I have grown to loo for his insight: You see one boxer hit another guy flush in the face and here comes captain Lewis; "Frank really should keep his hands up!"

It rivaled the Floyd/maidana fight, Floyd/Pac fight, and Broner/Maidana fight as far as BoxingScene crashing due to massive site traffic.

As a mod I'll see what I can do about it /find out about it.

I guess that's a good sign. Probably means the PPV buys were decent.

Hadn't seen that happen to this website in a while.

I also checked a separate fight news site and they were temporarily down as well.

This site always crashes for me as soon as an even moderately big fight ends, but last night was brutal. It took forever to load any page on the site and the round by round page of Fury vs Wilder wouldn't load at all and sometimes would just give me an error page. I probably waited an hour after the fight before I could read or post.

It used to happen on every single big fight night without fail.

I think the biggest one ever was when Marquez knocked Manny the fk out. I came in to see everyone lose their minds, but it was never gonna happen. I think the entire country of Mexico was trying to log in.

Is this site ever going to upgrade so that it can handle the traffic of a big boxing event?

The times when it could be attracting new posters and new eyeballs for ad revenue?

They need better servers.
