Is Deas trying to get Breeland off the team?
Wilder will be looking to fire someone when the dust settles. Deas is just trying to make sure it won’t be him.

That was my initial reaction, "wtf are they doing?"

but no, it was over. the good ship Wilder wasn't coming back, he was listing, he was taking on water and was miles from shore.

BUT I would disagree with anyone saying he didn't want to continue, it certainly looked,to me anyway, like Wilder's spirit was still willing.

Deas was never going to get canned. He's been with Wilder from day one and they have an extremely close relationship. But I think Wilder respects Breeland enough and is thankful for what he has done for his career and ends up sticking it out with this team...BUT, will make it clear in the trilogy that no one is throwing in the towel, regardless of the beating he takes lol.

          Breland did the right thing.

He was suffering from severe vertigo.

Looked like he was going to vomit between rounds.

I didn't hear him say that...but agree 100% with your post...his legs were gone from early on...could have called it off way earlier imho...he was just there to soak up damage at that point

Agreed...his legs were done from like the 3rd round...if he wanted to quit he could have found a way out long before when it ended

Mark Breland throwing in the towel was the first time a member of Wilder's team has done anything other than be a "Yes!" man. Full respect to Breland for doing the right thing. Deontay lives to fight another day, was looking like he could get seriously hurt in there. If anyone should be off the team it should be the moron who would let his fighter continue to get massacred.

If his legs were still there and he was just taking shots but was still capable of landing something big? Then okay fine, let the man fight and don't throw the towel in. But when exactly was he going to get his legs back? The KD happened in round 3 and it was round 7 and legs still weren't back....And he was not getting them back the rest of the fight. The stoppage was the right decision.

Yep we saw that the same way...gotta be tough when your guy, of all people, is Wilder...and you just tell yourself that all he needs is one-half chance or half-shot...but yeah those legs were gone and the percent chance he had of getting lucky just was very small...not worth taking more damage.

Thought it was early at first but Breland saved Wilder from a career ending beating. Guy was in a corner taking punishment not throwing punches.
