Briggs Is Very Dangerous.

If the fight goes past the 6th the only way Briggs will win is if Wlad gasses himself as well and Briggs lands a few shots that Wlad just can't get up from due to exhaustion. Briggs will be gassed too of course, but a gassed puncher who can still lift his arms can still score a KD on Wlad.

That's harsh reality but it's true.

A guy who fights outside of the box.....like Sanders, Brewster, and Puritty.....oh wait: BRIGGS.

Can give him trouble, because none of them are technical fighters. They go out there to kill the other guy, and will take some to land some.

Dangerous situation.

if briggs thinks he is going to walk through wlads jab he has another thing coming. briggs cannot close the distance without getting hit, and he cant take much of a shot himself, i dont think this is as risky as its being made out to be

The fight isin't supposed to be close, because Briggs isin't on Wlad's level and that's that. Nobody can argue against that statement.

Wlad should have K.O.'d Sanders, and he didin't even prepare. Sanders is not on his level....and he beat him up, but we do know....that Briggs will try and exploit any weakness he sees. If he can sustain the punishment like he took from Lewis, it's not going to be pretty.....early.

I don't know how much harder Lewis hit than Wlad...and I'd say they're about even in the power department.

It took Lewis a while to dismantle Briggs.

Wlad's has a good, strong, accurate jab... but it's not incredibly fast. Briggs can bob and weave enough to get around it for the first few rounds in order to close the distance to throw some punches with some steam on em'. In the middle rounds is when the Jab will destroy Briggs though, since he wont be able to be as active while coming in, with less head and body movement to avoid the jab.

Wlad would have beaten Sanders if he was taught to hold back then. Wlad tried to sit back and fight, and held like he was scared, that first KD was really because Wlad didn't know how to hold and got hit with a left when he thought he had him held. Then he tried to fight instead of hold on and recover.

I think this is a good test for Wlad. If he can withstand an early barrage from an incredibly motivated Briggs, fighting in MSG in front of his hometown, then he's going to run this division for the next few years. Briggs is a big HW with a VERY quick straight right, deceptively quick. But Wlad has never been KO'd with one punch, and has learned how to fight hurt and survive, how to hold when he's in an uncomfortable position. I think this fight will be the litmus test for just how good Wlad is and if he's totally recovered, mentally, from his losses. Because there's going to be some crazy moments in those first few rounds.

Personally, I wouldn't have fought Briggs, if I was Wlad's team. It's riskier than people realize. But hey, Manny knows Shannon very well, and that probably factored into giving him this opportunity, and also the fact that Briggs is from NY, well-known name there even still. I'm going to assume Manny knows what he's doing here, but like I said, I disagree with his choice.

For fans, though, it's going to be good. It ain't going the distance, and there's going to be more than 3 knockdowns in the bout.

For the sport, a big exciting HW title fight in MSG on HBO is about all you can ask for.

But for Wlad's career? Not the best choice of opponent.
