Gotta say, I really like Mike’s reaction to Wilder’s boast; but I have to go with Lewis’s opinion: Tyson tears up Deontay, probably in 4 or 5. Tyson’s style and even his height would pose a problem for Wilder. I can easily see the relentless, swarming attack going under Wilder’s long reach, then connecting flush with both hands. Tyson wasn’t unbeatable, nor was he the greatest, but against Wilder he would’ve prevailed.

Wilder has no head movement or footwork and mike would be inches off his chest in bone smash mode. Inevitably Wilder would put his gloves up while Mike hooked around with blistering speed and concussive grande like shots in a noncompetitive 1 round fight.Comment

Wilder vs Tyson
Deontay Wilder, wouldn't have been a top heavyweight in that era. He can punch if you're standing in front of him. He's got no real boxing skills. Any heavy weight from the 70s through the 90s would've destroyed him. Fury played around, that's why he got caught a couple of times. He exposed Wilder's lack of skill especially defensive. Deontay Wilder is champion because there are good heavyweight fighters. Sans Fury and Joshua. Any fighter that boxes him and lands with power takes his title easily.Comment

That's very good science fiction. Tyson had huge problems with tall rangy fighters who could smother his attacks.
There is a world of difference between Michael Spinks and Deonte Wilder
I remember viewing both training camps for Tyson versus Mitch Blood Greene, and Mitch gave Tyson fits as he could never really hit him cleanly. The same thing occurred with Quick Tillis.
The great difference is that Deonte hits harder than Greene and Tillis combined. He would not be facing a Spinks on creaky legs who twice beat a totally shot Larry Holmes.Comment

Reiss is still stinging so much from the criticism he faced after the fight, that last night he stopped a fight with 1 second to go. I was waiting for him to plant a big wet one on Fury and lift him off the canvas.Comment

With Wilder's total clueless approach to proper footwork and other Boxing 101 bits... prime Tyson vs prime Wilder would be an embarrassment to Wilder. The young unbeatable Tyson had not only thunderous body and head punches, he also had a bob-and-weave that was very tough to infiltrate. And BTW, prime Wilder would be smashed by prime Razor Ruddock as well. Just my 37 cents worth, that's all.
The fact is that the first time he fought a big man in shape with a plan, he got exposed and knocked out. Holyfield again exposed him twice. The second time he was so frustrated that he bit off a nice chunk of Evanders ear like the spoiled brat he was.Comment

You sound young ..under 35
Look mook
Study Tyson before opening your hole
Mike peaked at 85 to Spinks fight
His upper body defensive skills were outstanding...thats what caught my attention in the early part of his career..
He rarely got hit...I knew has his competition level went up this would come in handy
But after he destroyed Spinks...he just started to walk straight in to his opponents..see Razor and Thomas fights
Throw a few hooks..tie his self up in a clinch
Unfortunately soon he went to jail before he could fight a peak Holyfield in in early 90s
Look at Douglas fight ..Wilder was taller and hit harder..
We will never know..Could peak Tyson beat Marciano..Frazier..
Dempsey ..Ali..Holmes..etc...
Tyson fought some really good fighters. Wilder fought Fury, Ortiz and 40 bums.Comment
