With Wilder's total clueless approach to proper footwork and other Boxing 101 bits... prime Tyson vs prime Wilder would be an embarrassment to Wilder. The young unbeatable Tyson had not only thunderous body and head punches, he also had a bob-and-weave that was very tough to infiltrate. And BTW, prime Wilder would be smashed by prime Razor Ruddock as well. Just my 37 cents worth, that's all.

The style matchup favors young mike.

Wilder can be chinny. Wilder has a right hand that he likes to have guys at the right range to tee off on. Tyson was 5'10'' and crouched down lower while he came in, he had excellent defense and quick feet to close the distance. I dont see Wilder connecting him him but I see Tyson closing the distance and cracking wilder.

If you were to ask me to pick a guy to beat wilder, besides a few larger guys who could box well like Lennox, Vitali, Ali ect, I would pick Mike as a smaller guy who has the right style to beat wilder.

Yeah big power doesn't get the wheels it needs to function properly without proper boxing technique... of which Wilder is totally bereft of. You need more that a huge punch to beat a prime Tyson. His prime years defense was too solid to penetrate properly.

          Yo Andrian..

Ortiz is a master class Cuban southpaw w power at 6 ft 4 inches w 79/80 inch reach .body weight 235/240lb

          Tyson is 5 ft 9 w a very short reach 74/75 at best..body weight 210/220lbs

Ortiz is ducked by every top 15 heavyweight for a reason...do you have a brain..

No one but Wilder will fight king Kong even tho he is the golden ticket to a voluntary title shot w Wilder

Wake me when some top guy fights him

I think DDD will to get Wilder next year

If he does knock Fury out, that would be a great result.

But it's a highly dangerous fight for him, let me tell you. Fury - as debatable as his actual value really is - has a style that seems to puzzle Wilder quite a bit. I'm not a fan or enemy of either, but my money this next weekend will go on Fury, well conscious that it could be a losing bet. Essentially, I have no certainty in any result (but, by a lucky strike, won money on the first fight's draw )

Study Tyson before opening your hole

Mike peaked at 85 to Spinks fight

His upper body defensive skills were outstanding...thats what caught my attention in the early part of his career..

He rarely got hit...I knew has his competition level went up this would come in handy

But after he destroyed Spinks...he just started to walk straight in to his opponents..see Razor and Thomas fights

Throw a few hooks..tie his self up in a clinch

Unfortunately soon he went to jail before he could fight a peak Holyfield in in early 90s

Look at Douglas fight ..Wilder was taller and hit harder..

We will never know..Could peak Tyson beat Marciano..Frazier..
              Dempsey ..Ali..Holmes..etc...
Why on earth would you study the Buster v. Tyson fight to get any notion of what Tyson v. Wilder would have been like? I could not imagine two more different fighting styles than Wilder and Douglas. Wilder may have been taller and harder hitting than Douglas, but height and power didn't get Douglas the win that night. His footwork, conditioning, angles and incredibly sharp combination punching is what got him there. Wilder, as much as I like him, has none of that.

Besides a good defense, Tyson had one hell of a chin if he did get clipped. Anybody who thinks Wilder is going to just walk down Tyson and cold-**** him like he did Brezeale never saw a Mike Tyson fight.

Against a Tyson that basically didn't even train for the fight, it should be noted.

Big props to Mike for taking the high road. But Wilder isn’t beating “PRIME” Tyson from 1986. Remember Wilder specifically said the 86 version and not the version Lennox faced years later.

First of all, Mike had a great head and upper body movement and footwork along with his powerful punches and punched in veracious combinations before he was upset by Buster Douglas because he didn’t train that hard, had some clowns in his corner, and took Buster very lightly. But that 86 version of Tyson would have swarmed Wilder’s ass as soon as the bell rung. There was no waiting around. And he was seek and destroy every single round. For those that say Bonecrusher Smith and Tony Tucker went the distance and if Wilder went the distance he would have eventually caught Mike with the right hand, I say those 2 guys had a strategy to not get knocked out. Wilder doesn’t fight that way. He fights to get the knock out also which would play into the aggressive destroy style of the 86 version of Tyson.
