Who fought the tougher competition? Floyd Mayweather Jr or Bernard Hopkins?

I voted for Hopkins, one of my all-time favorite fighters.
I wouldn’t consider myself a Mayweather fan-boy, but I have a ton of respect for his ring craft, the man was a wizard.
Personally, I think the argument could be made that Floyd has a better resume on paper, with all of the champions he beat. However, while a lot of Floyd’s wins were against big names who were on the way down, B-Hop fought tougher fights against men in their prime, often when he was much, much older than them. And it could be argued that he fought the best ever (RJJ)

why do people even waste time making threads about mayweather
some posters go full Re&ard when his name is mentioned. wouldnt give the man credit if you paid them lol
all those folks who posted for Hopkins and hardly any posted or explained their position
thus why i dont do polls on this forum, speak your peace, back your opinion with facts or be ignored lolLast edited by therealpugilist; 02-14-2020, 11:55 AM.

definition of prime
of the best possible quality; excellent.
a state or time of greatest strength, vigor, or success in a person's life.
All the fighters i mentioned could be put in this category

Wright was at 170 a catchweight, fight shouldve been at middleweight for Hopkins title at 160 earlier
DLH was in his 6th division and Tito in his 3rd
calzaghe was closer to 40 than 30.
Floyd has the better opponents by far when its all put in the proper context

The thread question says nothing about age. Stop trying to move the goalposts.

You are surely not counting ODLH in those wins right ? considering he fought him 3 years later
So how many division did Marquez move up by the time he fought Floyd and how old was he ? catchweight , how about Manny how old how many weight divisions ?, how old was Mosley ?.Canelo was green catchweight .Cotto how many wars did he fight before Floyd ?By your logic all these do not count towards his greatness right ? so who does that leave ?
terrible effort
Cotto had 2 loses and was on a win streak
marquez and floyd spent years only 4 pounds apart from 1996-2002 not the same....floyd started at 130 and fought in the olympics at 125, marquez was a featherweight......ODLH started his career at 130 and was not impressive vs Sturm and hell the size difference was more pronounced than marquez vs mayweather
genius......floyd and marquez were past prime, floyd was coming off a 2 year lay off and both were in their 30s
Manny was a starved kid at 112, noticed how he skipped to divisons to campaign at 122, he matured into his adult frame and was out of poverty......dude was weighing 138 on fight night for his featherweight fights.....dude you dont know much about boxing at all......growing because of age is not the same as moving up in your late 30s lol
