Why when discussing Wilder people always dismiss that Wilder would get knocked out? Does Wilder have the defence to stand up to a prime Tyson, Lewis etc?

Well that's fair but when you're making sweeping generalizations, you're becoming the very thing you're arguing against. If these are your honest opinions then it's worse still. I can't imagine they are and instead, it's more so just throwing back what you're having thrown at you. I mean it's not for me to criticize how you interact with anybody on here, I just think your points are always solid when you're not getting caught up in the US vs Brit bs

Gone are the Klitschko days of jab, grab, gentlemen in suits, and shaking hands.

This the Bronze Era now, get used to it! Big men, big action, insults, rowdy press conferences, knockouts, loud war cries, and fans getting into brawls at the shows.

I try not to make sweeping generalizations. I will post what I think about segments of a fighters fanbase. The fact is not everyone likes certain fighters for the same reasons and that is obvious by the posts. People also don't hate guys fro the same reason.

Actually, I am the one throwing stuff back. That is what I did the in the Tank thread. I reminded a few posters what they posted about Kov when he was in a similar situation as Tank.

The US v Brit stuff stems from Brits saying they are taking over boxing and me being one of the posters that signed on to poster Legendary Hater's thread about American boxing. It's not that serious, but I have no qualms getting in the mud with guys like Robbie, Redeemer, English Oxide and other Brits that bash America.

Even in that discussion never once have I claimed Wilder is better than AJ. I just don't hide that I want Wilder to win solely because he is an American.

People need to stop getting hard ons over fighters from previous eras.

For example, Fury would never lose to a midget like Mike Tyson, he wouldn't have been scared of him either like a lot of guys were.

Having said all that, i'm still picking him over wilder
I'd also say that the assumption he is mediocre as the OP makes out is wrong and he is also not some ATG like others do.

Certainly has above average movement, size, jab, feints, stamina, ring IQ.... ability to switch smoothly between stances etc I agree he is not as elusive as people make out, but he does try and slip more punches than the average heavyweight so he's gona catch a few especially against the taller guys.

                  I agree

No point in glorifying previous eras.

For as many weak opponents Wilder and Fury have beaten, you can also say that about Tyson, Ali, Lewis, Holyfield

The reality is most eras only ever have a few very good fighters, just like now

Mike was a mental midget and Fury wouldn’t be afraid of him because how how Fury is

Once Mike couldn’t intimidate someone, he would fold

Tyson was a very exciting fighter, very good at one point but his prime era was about as weak as now. And he was fighting guys that would’ve probably boiled down to cruiser weight today. I think some of today’s fighters would’ve been too big for him

stop it, fury is hardly prime ali, he gets hit alot, lets stop pretending he hasnt got dropped multiple times off midget journeyman and has zero power to keep people off him, Mike would just walk through him, cmon now.
