  • Show me a star who got created by a dipsh^t promoter, platform or manager?

Stars create themselves. Promoters just try to not fook it up & then bask in the glory & benefits of having the star under contract.

SRL made himself a star at the Olympics. Oscar was a star before he even went to the Olympics. Manny became a star by maybe being the most likeable high level foreign mfer in the US in boxing history + was among the most fun guys to watch in the ring. Floyd became a star by doing magic in the ring & outta making himself the bad guy everyone wanted to see lose. Ali made himself a star by flashy style, his rhymes & always engaging personality regardless if it was because he was making you laugh or pissing you off. And plenty other stories & plenty other reasons guys made themselves stars. None of these stories involve a promoter, platform or manager making someone a star through anything they could do, came up with or change the trajectory of someones career. Stars being created by other mfers is one of the dumbest things some boxing fans believe.

agree....but those guys are basically mega stars....and id agree megastars have a certain charm, good or bad, that attracts...thats how they reach that level....they have something...an IT factor....

i think most are debating lower than super star level of stardom...

How is a guy who's made 8 digits a couple times at least I believe & supposedly has been offered as much as $40M for one fight according to Eddie Hearn & something like a $100M mutil-fight deal not a star?

What makes a guy a star in your estimation?

Sometimes, well a lot of times actually, I think some of you guys got too high of a hurdle to clear to various things like being a top ten guy or star or legend or all kinds of other sh^t.

I'd argue if your getting paid in the top 1/10th of 1% of boxers, you've been in multiple PPV main events, have ESPN giving your fight outcomes on their scrolling results banner on the regular & you're wearing $40,000 costumes into the ring you are a star.

The point was that Adrian Broner was promoted by Golden Boy Promotions. This thread is about trying to name PBC fighters, that qualify as stars, who have ZERO connections to Golden Boy.

Something that people are apparently having a very hard time doing.

these same people think ortiz and garcia qualify as stars right now.....also pretty sad

Whats the levels of stardom as best as you can explain it?

As best as I understand what you are saying before you break it down better I'd still argue "emerging stars" or "lower level stars" make themselves too.

Like a guy like Devin Haney for example I'd argue isn't a big star & I'd doubt many would disagree with that take, but he's got some level of popularity that he's created himself through his social media engagement, his personality & his fighting style among other things that are him or are of his own doing. Everything that makes a guy a star or has the potential to enhance his level of stardom is IT factor type stuff. All Eddie, Devin's dad or anyone else involved in his career are doing are getting him fights & putting him in the best possible position for him to have the success that can make him as big of a name as his talent & personality can make him & potentially a future superstar of the sport that the intangibles of Devin's talent & personality will ultimately decide if they catch enough fire with boxing fans & the public at large.

                  • wilder made like 70 mil in two years and some dont think hes a "star" qualifier...lol...you cant name any other american born active fighter thats made 70 mil in a career let alone two years...lol

but i guess that was oscars doing since wilder was with golden boy years ago when schaeffer and haymon were running golden boy lol

What's even sadder is trying to give Al Haymon credit for the rise of Canelo.

Vergil Ortiz and Ryan Garcia are certainly on the path to stardom. Golden Boy Promotions doing it again, their track record speaks for itself.
