Ward would’ve stopped GGG. Too fast, and GGG would’ve been slower at 168. Just different style fighters. GGG can only display defense from long range. Sloppy head movement. No upper body movement. This is why he couldn’t do anything with Canelo. Canelo too dangerous in inside fighting and GGG wanted nothing to do with being hit to the body. That’s why he only fought from a distance flicking jabs in a bore fest, looking busy just racking up points like in the amateur system. Depends on the mood of the judge if they want to acknowledge an amateur style bout or real prize fight. GGG didn’t show up. It was all destiny.

#1 Golovkin usually fights from the outside. He's a mid range fighter.
#2 Ward is not a fast fighter. His speed is OK but fast is not a term I would use to describe him.
#3. In sparring and in the mitts when he's weighting above 160 I don't see him being noticably slower than at 160.
I think Ward would be favored to beat Golovkin because he's a very good fighter and bigger. Ward had to move up to 175 later in his career because he was having trouble making weight. Throwing in his dirty fighting that does not get penalized for would make it very difficult for Golovkin gain any traction in the fight.

It's simple, if Golovkin "didn't live up to the hype" then Alvarez, being a "great fighter" (in his prime), should have dominated him, so Alvarez and GGG are both hype jobs , according to you.

I really don't care much about weights within 10 to 20 pounds between fighters. That's what we are seeing now anyway. I don't follow the belt orgs' weight classifications. Hurd should be fighting at lightheavy.

Even now, if the top fighters are within 20 pounds, I'm cool with it. This is fighting, boxing, machismo. Can't be too soft if you are a boxing fan (not talking about you).

If everyone follows the weight rules as laid out by the Alphabet groups then there is a somewhat level playing field. That way we know who is the best I that weight class(if they actually fight). It's not perfect but it's consistent Boxers can get big money for cutting weight and I can't blame them. I don't consider catchweights fights for titles legitimate. I've felt that way since Donny Lalonde fought SRR for two titles in one fight. It was a great fight and I'm glad I saw it but I didn't consider Leonard a true 175 pound champion when he beat Lalonde. That's my own personal view.

One thing people tend to forget about a prime Golovkin is his ability to cut/injure guys. Multiple opponents throughout the years were stopped due to cuts and injuries or had cuts before ultimately getting stopped. That kind of power is always a game changer. He's still heavy handed enough to cut guys, as he did with Both Canelo and Derev but that snap that he used to have made his punches so much more devastating.
