    He was ducked doe.

Everyone GGG called out, ducked him.

    Sturm ducked him.
Cotto ducked him (GGG took step aside money to allow Cotto vs Martinez)
    Martinez ducked him.
    Saunders ducked him.
    JCC Jr ducked him.

Only four fighters called out GGG in public. Ward, Lara, Jermall and Andrade. And two good fighters managed to step in the ring with him, Canelo and Jacobs.

    Facts. GGG was ducked.

Golovkin was one of the most overrated fighters I've seen in my time as a fan, people were legit saying this guy could ko a heavyweight when he was taking 11 to stop Martin Murray.

        Stayed in one weight class

Doesn't even really have any good wins in said weight class

Fans proclaimed him a P4P killer who wipes out anyone south of 200

        Lol

Sounds like he had sincere intentions before the money got to him.

Regardless, he's a great fighter and always fun to watch - I wish people would stop making it their agenda to discredit the dude. Lots of fighters have said lots of wishful thinking **** in the sports history, it doesn't diminish what they actually accomplished and how entertaining they were. Of course having said all that, I think some of the GGG die hards needs to just let the whole Canelo and Ward thing go.

You literally have a favorable picture of him as your avatar lol.

I mean everyone with 2 eyes saw him beat Canelo...twice really...don't see how anyone who knows how to score a fight doesn't give him those.

If the worst someone can say is that he had two very tough fights vs a prime Canelo...well I guess that's pretty good...and that would be a hater's perspective.

I think it's fun to talk boxing...and hash out what happened in certain situations, especially in the ring...but I don't really get the sense that too many GGG 'fans' care much about the Canelo and Ward situations.

Everyone knows what it is when you face Canelo or a similar A side star of that magnitude...if you don't KO him you very likely will get bad cards...just is what it is.

With Ward, I came across a few quotes from him recently that I had never seen before so I thought it would be beneficial to point those out...I guarantee you I have never cared how the 2 Canelo decisions went lol...and don't care at all about how people feel about Ward-GGG...people will see things how they want to, and it is what it is... I know what I saw in Canelo-GGG fights and I know how I read the tea leaves as far as GGG-Ward goes.

But this is a boxing forum so that stuff should be discussed, no? It's what we're here for.

Video at 1:00 says Ward wants Bute after Super Six tourney...or that winner (which was Ward) should face Bute after the tourney ends:

                https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XO_H29ikNzs

This is no mixing of words here...it is clear what he is saying.

Now fastforward just 2 fights (7 months I think) later...Ward beats Abraham and Froch.

                https://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/...ely-time-being

'Sadly, it doesn't seem like Bute or boxing fans will get the fight they want. Ward showed little interest in Bute at his postfight media conference after his masterpiece against Froch. Sure, Ward earned the right to do what he wants after such a tough road in the Super Six, but it's still disappointing to hear.

"To be perfectly honest, no disrespect to Bute and his team, but they've sat back and they've fought B-level and C-level guys and he did what he was supposed to do," said Ward, failing to grasp that Bute wasn't invited to the Super Six and had no A-level opponents available to him. "He stopped them and he's gotten them out of there. But he's just been sitting back, waiting, while we've been fighting for the past two and a half years against top-level competition.

"So I don't have to go to Lucian Bute right now," Ward said. Going up to light heavyweight for the right fight -- not to campaign up there, but for the right fight -- is an option. So we've just got to sit back and see what makes sense. I think I earned the right to pick the right fight for the right price."

I mention that last comment about going up to LHW for a reason btw...if Ward had said 'I'm willing to face any LHW in the world too'...I would have taken it the same way as GGG/his team's 154-168 comment...basically meaning, under the right conditions, if it makes sense for us (money, weight, venue etc) we would take the fight...I'm mentioning this to point out again that imho I am not 'picking on Ward' or 'giving GGG a pass'...I am just judging them from their own comments.

"That's a tremendous fight for Carl because I know Carl doesn't like Bute," Ward said. "To be perfectly honest, I think Bute has to beat somebody. I'm just gonna be frank with you: He has to beat somebody, an A-level guy, to get a shot. We'll sit back and talk as a team, but off the top of my head, he has to beat somebody. You can't sit back and just take your time while everyone else is working hard and you come in and get the same pay that everyone else gets. It don't work like that. This is a sport, but we also use our brains for business, and we'll sit down and make a solid business decision."

The last part there added in here to show that Ward has always been very conscious of his fight plan...he doesn't seem like he just says 'yes' to a fight right away...he has to really iron out every detail and be in control of basically everything before he fights someone.

GGG seems like he more or less deals fair with people...and knows his role when he is B side or the A side...Ward always thought he was the A-side (money-wise) when he often times wasn't.

And then Ward says this, a few months later, after Bute signed his fight with Froch:

"I was disappointed," Ward said. "Bute and his promoter were screaming and yelling that I was ducking them, then they go and make a two-fight deal with Froch where if he loses, he takes Froch back to Canada? I didn't understand that. I was never ducking him, I just wanted to build up the fight. I was coming off two years of grueling fights and I felt he needed to fight someone. But ducking him? Come on. He wants belts, I have three belts over here if he wants to fight for a belt."

                https://www.badlefthook.com/2012/4/1...team-disagrees

So yeah this is why I view Ward the way I do...and I view GGG more or less like most other fighters, who more or less do what they say.

The only fighter that i can say avoided GGG is sturm, i just think he came on to the scene at the wrong time. He is now going through the same thing that Martinez, Cotto etc were going through when they were on top.

Ward would’ve stopped GGG. Too fast, and GGG would’ve been slower at 168. Just different style fighters. GGG can only display defense from long range. Sloppy head movement. No upper body movement. This is why he couldn’t do anything with Canelo. Canelo too dangerous in inside fighting and GGG wanted nothing to do with being hit to the body. That’s why he only fought from a distance flicking jabs in a bore fest, looking busy just racking up points like in the amateur system. Depends on the mood of the judge if they want to acknowledge an amateur style bout or real prize fight. GGG didn’t show up. It was all destiny.

A Year + Later Canelo cheerleader still acting like Golovkin wasn’t s.hit

Yet the fact is almost a year and a half since the fight in which most people who watched believe the past prime guy who wasn’t sh.it to begin with should have won , Screams of a insecure fanbase and just trying to convince themselves that their guy actually deserved the W.

It’s almost as bad as the guys who 3-4 years since he retired still make Mayweather threads sh.itting on him ,
