wilder wont make anything...he never does...nobody knows him or likes him and hes friggin poor...the guy can barely afford a 1600 a month mortgage and to feed his many children...his wife shops on consignment

wilder will be lucky to make 2 mil for this fight...hes never made more than 2 mil for a fight...because ive seen listed purse figures and theres no way he can make more than that...no way no how...not at all....0 chance....

Probably 50 - 50 split again going off ppv figures after everyone else takes their cut.

They are doing separate PPV’s, ESPN/Top Rank keeps theirs and FOX/PBC keeps theirs. So it depends on how much each platform sells in terms of PPV. Or how many of their subscribers actually buy the fight from their side of the platform. Which one does the fans prefer? ESPN or FOX?

They probably do not have fixed income but a share from the PPV. So, impossible to guess right now what they will be making. Usually, it is base pay + share of the revenue (PPV sales, sponsors, live gate tickets, TV rights, etc.). So, at most, you may get the "guaranteed base pay" numbers but will probably never get the total pay.

But, why are people so much interested in what other people are making?

The 3 million is paid upfront which is why it gets reported to the commission. That’s for tax purposes. Now the 20 million guaranteed could be paid out over a number of years. I remember Floyd bragging during the Cotto build up that he was still getting checks from the De La Hoya fight. And that’s what 5 years after the fact.

The problem isn't knowing what to believe. It's choosing to believe the higher number when it suits.

A tweet from Rafael being picked up by legitimate news organisations and included in articles saying "[Fighter] is reported to be getting..." isn't news.

Yes, we know the fighter gets more than the official purse. Officially they'll get those fees for things that are on the periphery of the actual fight and pay tax for them somewhere else (likely somewhere with little to no tax).

The only tool you have is your common sense. If the fight doesn't generate it, then the boxer isn't getting it. A cheque might even get handed over, but he's giving something else up of value.

If it were anywhere near what Wilder turned down for AJ we would know. We knew what Oscar, Manny, Floyd, Canelo and other stars were making well before the fight. PPV upside won’t be that big with two promoters and networks getting their cut first. I think it will do good numbers but I don’t see it as a million PPV number. I say 600k or slightly better.

I'm sure they'll be earning enough to make it worthwhile turning up.

I do find it odd that what should absolutely be the biggest HW fight in years (from a boxing fan's perspective) seems lower key than Joshua Ruiz 2. Will they earn anything close to AJ's earnings in that fight?
