Surprised to hear the call coming from Haymon though, or maybe not.

Im not surprised at all...what is surprising is that Robles went off the reservation and actually revealed the level of control Haymon has over these guys.

Since when the hell do managers make the final call on hiring or firing a trainer?

If Ruiz didn't even try and train properly then why would you want to change the coach.

What's that going to change if his attitude remains lazy?

Haimon is not Ruiz's manager, what he is his advisor. As part of Al's "team" Ruiz understands that Hayman pulls the financial strings and his boxing future (to a large degree).

Firing Robles is done in the hope that it will change Andy's fortunes. It won't. Ruiz is Ruiz whether he is 230lbs or 280 lbs. If you stand in front of him and trade he has a chance to beat you. If you can box and move he doesn't.

All this out of shape talk is bull****. Did Ruiz Jr gas out in that fight? No he didn't. He just got outboxed and outfoxed by a Joshua who had learned the hard way how to beat Andy Ruiz Jr.

He could be 40lbs lighter but it doesn't change his fundamental quality. He is a fighter and not a boxer. You have to stand in front of him for him to be effective.

Changing trainers doesn't change this simple reality. Haymon must be seething that all those belts slipped through his fingers.

haymon forcing guys to change trainers wtf. robles is 0% to blame for the loss and deserves a lot credit for training him to win the first fight, pbc screwing him over

It is hard to say if Haymon forced this, may have been asked his opinion to help make a decision.

Regardless, with Ruiz current mindset, its obvious he needs a different trainers approach. He is a grown man and Robles shouldn't have to babysit him and didnt.

Time to try a new trainer who will be more aggressive towards him training, and if he can't find one then that is it for Ruiz. But Haymon has a skilled fighter that he hopes can snap out of it.

Robles did a great job with him, and I wouldn't put any blame there, but I would replace him in Hope's of Ruiz turning it around.

Of all people that deserve to be fired Andy Ruiz trainer is at the top of the list. The shape he came in for the 2 AJ fights was an embarrassment to the sport. I understand not every athlete has a statuesque figure but Ruiz looked like he had barely trialed.

I really disagree with Ruiz being a fighter not a boxer. He's a counter puncher for christ sake. His knock out ratio is also fairly low especially for a "fighter." He is much more a boxer than anything, just not a long distance run around like chicken **** boxer.

Andy Ruiz will be remembered similar to buster Douglas.
Able to raise the bar on the night and get an epic win, but not able to show the discipline to remain consistent

I hate when a guy loses and feels he needs to fire his trainer. It's not Manny's fault that Ruiz wasn't in good enough shape to execute the game plan.

Now, this fool (Ruiz) has all of this money from both AJ fights and no trainer. Why do I say he has no trainer?

Because he'll more than likely hire a new trainer who doesn't care if he's in shape or not...they just want the payday. Ruiz is clearly his own worst enemy and we'll see it unfold in no time.

I commend boxers who become champions, but remain grounded. But if you become a champion you should not stay the same and Andy failed to realize that. And he never realized the responsibility that was shifted to him. It was sickening to see him days and weeks before the fight - a rich fat kid driving around in his G-wagon surrounded by leaches. And that was his goal - just have some money for a nice house, RR, bling and pizzas. He could have made tens of millions if he won the rematch. I don't think he would have beat AJ in the rematch, but he had every chance to at least lose by a small margin and he failed even in that. I have zero interest in Andy - he is just a fluke, who was looking to earn money.

Joshua, in contrast, had more than enough money to retire pretty much after he beat Klitschko. But at this stage he truly fights for legacy and it shows. Does Ruiz even know the word - "l-e-g-a-c-y"? His legacy would be pizza boxes, bling and a few pictures with the belt. He may have the attributes to win a fight and become a champion, but he does not have mentality of a champion.

And since Ruiz has achieved his life objective, Whyte will beat the crap out of him, if they fight. Ruiz might tag Whyte a few times, but that's all that I'd predict for this fight.
