Comments Thread For: Parker's Coach Does Not Expect Oleksandr Usyk Clash To Happen

Kevin Barry, the head trainer for Joseph Parker, does not expect the WBO to force Anthony Joshua to vacate his world title. Joshua was ordered by the WBO to make a mandatory defense against Oleksandr Usyk, while the IBF ordered Joshua to face his mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev.

      Agreed

He doesn't seem to carry the extra weight well

Good job he pulled out of the takem fight because he would already back at cruiser going off his last outing

... in fact, Kevin Barry doesn't say that Usyk would not fight Parker...

Team Parker To Usyk: We're The A-Side, 70-30 Split For Us!

If Joshua decides to vacate the WBO title, then Parker is ready to face Usyk for the title - with the proper financial terms in place.

"Usyk has not earned his stripes at heavyweight," Higgins told Sky Sports. "Joseph Parker is the A-side and Joseph Parker has sold out the Principality Stadium with Joshua, he's sold out The O2, with Whyte.

"He's the A-side and so if Usyk wants to share the ring with Parker, I would be expecting 70-30 open book revenue share in Parker's favour. I'll get ridiculed for that, but listen, Parker has beaten Andy Ruiz, he's sold out the Principality and the O2 and he's a big name in the UK, so Usyk is the B-side. Absolutely Joe would fight him, as long as the Usyk team recognise and understand that they are the B-side, there's no problem."

David Higgins, the manager for former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker, says their boxer is without question the 'A-side' of any agreement for a potential

Of course there's a problem! You throw up roadblocks and then claim the #1 guy does not want the #2 guy!

If the WBO orders purse bids if a contract isn’t agreed had the fight been ordered none of that matters ,Usyk has way more money behind him and would win , Higgins is using the media again to grandstand but he can’t demand anything ,team Usyk would laugh at this split claim .

too bad that things are going this way. Parker need some fresh light for reboosting his career and a clash against Usyk (after an eventually great performance against Chisora) for the vacant WBO World Title would be the perfect occasion. What a shame business always seems more important than boxing itself

Smart move would be to wait for Joshua so he at least gets a decent payday while losing.
