The Mayweather-Brussles fight was a WBC Title Eliminator for the winner to become Gatti's mandatory. Because Gatti had done everything in his power to avoid Floyd, but once Floyd won that fight, it pretty much forced Gatti to fight Mayweather.

You see, unlike Margarito, when Mayweather had a hard time getting a fight, he just didn't ***** about it. He went out there and made it happen by FORCING it.

Right but if he doesn't fight Baldomir now, it never happens. If he doesn't fight Margarito now...nothing. The fight is still very makeable in the future. So he would be losing the Baldomir payday (which while not 8 million will be significant as it is a title fight and there aren't that many real title fights anymore) if he takes Margarito now. And if a fight is worth 8 million now, it is worth at least that in the future. Try and tell me that he could get another opponent in 12 months that would match the revenues of a Mayweather-Baldomir title unification.

Uhm, Hatton was a virtual unknown in the U.S. at that time.

Vivian Harris, oh yeah, we all got to see what a star he turned out to be.

and Tsyzu?? That was the whole point in fighting Gatti (other then it being a huge PPV fight) Floyd wanted to fight Tsyzu to unify after Floyd won the WBC off of (which was stripped from Kostya) But we all know what happened... Floyd won, Kostya lost, Hatton didn't want to fight, Floyd moved up.

I'm not trying to be sarcastic when I ask this, but, didn't Baldomir get the linear title from Zab Judah? Wasn't the 8 million offered after Mayweather fought Judah...so...didn't Baldomir have the liner championship before the 8 million was offered?

Now there is a point I can accept. You are totally right that Baldomir hadn't beat Gatti yet when the offer was on the table. The only thing I can say is that I think Floyd was waiting to see what happened there before he made the decision. If Gatti won, there was no fight to be made so maybe he would have gone with Margarito or just done something else.
