To be real with you I never heard of Calzaghe until he beat up Lacy. Now that shows that most Calzaghe fans became fans after he beat Lacy. I think...........................................

That was a clinic, and he displayed a full arsenal of punches in bunches. Lacy is a god damn mack truck, and you couldn't knock the guy out with a tire iron.

Mayorga was already exposed as a fighter by the time Oscar got to him.
but Lacy was a never-was as opposed to Mayorga, who at least beat Vernon Forrest twice and arguably beat Spinks. Lacy's best win is against Syd Vanderpool

And I guess Calzaghe took all the hard fights available to him.

One thing that I've noticed is that some posters seem under the impression that the Blow doesn't hit that hard because Lacy - despite being out on his feet several times - was able to go the distance.

Let's not forget the Blow has a 75% KO ratio, and the fight showed more what a great chin Lacy has, than any express limitations in Blow's arsenal.

Calzaghe's bums put up more of a fight than Lacy...

                Definately.

But nearly every Brit I know of, rooted for him.

He lives about 20 miles away from me, when I was brought up my dad always told me Calzaghe was the best.

But I didn't predict the one sided decision that he won.

I'm well aware of that too. That's why I voted for Calzaghe to win via kayo.

                    You're being way too technical.

Lacy was undefeated, and was seeking to unify the SMW division. And if you're naming opponents....I'd honestly say Rubin Williams is as good a fighter as Syd Vanderpool is.

And neither guy is a slouch.

no, but only a few less than Roy.

Roy fought Toney as his first big risk fight in 1994
His next big risk fight, if you wanna call it that, was Ruiz in 2003. That's 9 years. Then the rematch with Tarver was a risk fight for him in 2004 and the rubbermatch in 2005.

Calzaghe fought Eubank, Brewer, Reid, and Lacy.

Roy's risks were bigger ones obviously, but he's been in the limelight since the early 90's
