Personally whilst I'm not particularly a fan of Claressa's I do want the women's sport to do well - for a coupla reasons - and I see Shields as the most likely vehicle of expanding it, so I'm kinda rooting for her success even whilst I thought her accusations of racism against Habazin were unfounded and unfair.
Way I'm seeing it the sport needs to expand it's fanbase and women are a largely untapped market, further if we want our sons to get involved in the sport and for it not to get banned or some ish we want women onside and promoting the womens sport is the best way to achieve that.
Finally of course sport is just good for people, men, women whatever, and for my money it doesn't really matter the level in some respects but boxing is the ultimate expression of human competitive spirit whether it's club level or international elites squaring off, male or female, amateur or pro.
