Comments Thread For: Wilder-Fury II: The End To The Lineal Championship Debate

The road to heavyweight championship lineage will continue to go through Tyson Fury. With the announcement of his February 22 rematch with long-reigning World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight titlist Deontay Wilder (42-0-1, 41KOs) comes so much more than an alphabet belt at stake. As they are recognized by most outlets and ratings boards as the two best heavyweights on the planet, their forthcoming sequel will restore championship lineage for the third time in the 21st century while crowning a new heavyweight king for the 45th time in boxing history.

Lineal won’t be decided until the belts are undisputed. End of.

Wilder would be schooled, humiliated and his WBC belt taken away. Easy UD win for Fury

Indeed. This is more than just #1 vs #2 (as is usually the case with establishing a new lineage), as there's now a clear #3 (Joshua) who was considered by many to be #1 less than a year ago.

Unfortunately, for marketing reasons they'll continue to tout this as a lineal championship bout despite #3 still being an essential part of the mix. The Ring belt being on the line will only cloud it further.

I think you'll find it will decide the lineal status of the division seeing as though Tyson Fury is still the man who beat the man. And if you don't think he's still the champion then this fight between 1 and 2 will decide it...

Adonis was still lineal in everybody's eyes despite not facing Kovalev when he had 3 of the belts.

            Please stop The nonsense

Fury you are not the lineal champion please stop you can’t retire for two yrs and say your the lineal champ so that means for the two yrs that you’re retired an active boxer has no shot at lineal champ because your in bars getting drunk Word on the street is that your back drinking.

And let’s not forget how you ducked the the klitscko rematch and were stripped of your titles stop your not the champion. You are a challenger

I don’t agree that Tyson fury is lineal at the moment nor that This fight is definitely #1 vs #2. Many consider it #2 vs #3.

So given that it’s clearly differing views - I won’t be recognising anyone as lineal until either they have beaten or been defeated by Anthony Joshua.

I honestly think Fury is shot and that Wilder will KO him in devestating fashion.

He was stripped 10 days later by the IBF because he did sign his rematch with Klitz.
