Is Terence Crawford the new GGG?

Like really, he's 32 and hasn't fought any legit competition. He is being hid out by Arum and he is getting praised as being a top 10 p4p when he hasn't fought anyone. I have a feeling that his career will be a lpt like GGG - a lot of question marks and well past his prime when he does step up.

GGG is a bum who avoided slick black competition; so I can't put bud on the same category of coward that ggg is in.

Pretty spot on comparison though in GGG's case, nobody really wanted to fight him. Crawford on the other hand didn't have anybody at 140 and took the easy route at 147 with this promotional choice. In fairness, I do actually think we see Crawford VS Porter or Spence next year though.

Ward was trying to fight GGG for years, but GGG stayed in middleweight hiding like a coward. How can you be a fan of ggg when he never even challenged himself!

Yea...ward was trying to fight ggg for forever, except when hbo tried to make it happen and ward declined. He just took a short break from trying to fight ggg at that time...but otherwise, he was trying to fight him for “years”.

He is following the same trajectory, hopefully he pulls in some big fights soon. Prime GGG was a wasted talent and I don't want to see the same thing happen to Crawford.

Come on let’s not make this needlessly about race

Big names (regardless of race) were avoiding GGG like the plague for a while there — they weren’t necessarily scared, just high risk, low reward and all that

He’s declined a lot since then, so we’ll never know how a lot of potential fights would have played out

I think he would have taken one or two L’s though if everyone fought him in his prime

One of my favorites of all time, Marvin Hagler, fought exclusively at MW also, and I’d never call him a coward. I wouldn’t call GGG one either. He knew his limits. “Challenging yourself” doesn’t always end well. Just ask Mikey Garcia or Guillermo Rigondeaux.

Cuda sworn team Pac wanted more money which Arum refused.
