Is Terence Crawford the new GGG?

Yeah, and I agree that they're very different circumstances, but the only 'massive difference' that you're asserting is that Bud got good fights younger and that Golovkin wasn't even trying to, so in this context the validity of that position is worth examining, surely?
It was a genuine question, man. I'm trying to think of who GGG could have fought before that? WBC was tied up with Maravilla since before GGG was relevent and Sergio rightly choose to fight Cotto, Sturm wouldn't fight him for the WBA and Pirog got injured in the build up to the fight for the WBO which then ended up over the road with Quillin.
Maybe they could have tried harder to get Geale earlier though I guess, but GGG was in promotional wilderness for most of Danny's reign and Geale always had more lucrative options anyway... so your assertion that they deliberately waited til GGG was old before looking for good opponents is kinda flawed I think.
Probably I'm missing someone though, man. Tell you what, you must have been thinking of someone that GGG should and could have fought to prompt you to make that comment, so maybe if you share we can have a look at whether that stance is valid or not.Comment

i made it clear he should have fought a titlist to take that first title in the ring way before he turned 34. Theres no way you can compare to someone with multiple titles at multiple weights won in the ring before they turned 30.Yeah, and I agree that they're very different circumstances, but the only 'massive difference' that you're asserting is that Bud got good fights younger and that Golovkin wasn't even trying to, so in this context the validity of that position is worth examining, surely?

Of course he should have done, but the assertion you appear to be making is that the reason he didn't was because his team chose not to, rather because there were no such fights available. If that is what you're asserting surely you should be able to produce the name of a titlist he could have fought and a time frame in which that fight could have happened?
I've given the names of some of the titlists incumbent at the time and legitimate reasons why the fights didn't happen... mainly because there were always more lucrative options for the titlists - GGG was barely known outside of the hardcore until he was pretty much 31 years old - though in the case of Pirog (the only other titlist with no significant market value or major promoter) due to injury.Last edited by Citizen Koba; 12-17-2019, 03:06 PM.Comment

Golovkin wasn't exposed to american audiences until much later in his career which contributed to his late arrival on the scene, but lets not forget that he was very avoided by pretty much anyone who had something to lose in that division. Fighters were vacating titles to avoid having to face him. He gets criticism for the whole 154-168 thing cause he didn't fight Ward at 168 but he hasn't fought anyone else at 168 either.
In Crawford's case up until he got to 147 he had been fighting the best available, you don't become undisputed without facing the best available guys. I think fans just don't hold guys like Burns, Beltran, Postol and Indongo in high regard but they were the best guys at 135 and 140; its a fair opinion but harsh to turn that into Crawford avoiding tough competition. I hope he can get the best guys at 147 but it seems that he won't get them unless he signs with PBC which is BS in my opinion.Comment

- -U the new Sheldumb?????????????????????????????????????????? ? Be dumbLike really, he's 32 and hasn't fought any legit competition. He is being hid out by Arum and he is getting praised as being a top 10 p4p when he hasn't fought anyone. I have a feeling that his career will be a lpt like GGG - a lot of question marks and well past his prime when he does step up.Comment
