Maybe with Deontays power its easier just to head hunt? He gets through their block when he follows up
If you were Deontay's trainer how would you increase his effectiveness?

I would focus on scoring so that he doesn't give away so many rounds while setting up his kill shots. Don't get me wrong, Wilder has the ultimate equalizer, however it would be great to not have to depend on it exclusively in every fight.Comment

I would tell him to open up and throw punches recklessly because that's all that needs to happen and he gets his man hurt and out of there at a staggering rate every time he does so.Comment

Drill basics non stop. I would use a shock collar and zap him for every windmill and bar room brawler technique thrown lol.Comment

He's blowing everyone out of the water. Besides Fury who has given him fits? He is the best heavy weight right now. Noone comes close, and noone can touch him. I agree he is not the most fundamentally sound but all it takes is one shot from him and the fight is done.
He can improve sure, but I think this version of the Wilder beats everyone except maybe Fury.Comment

I didn't see one windmill last fight.
I think he's improving.
The worst thing you can do is make him think too much.
He's an instinct fighter. Stuff can be drilled into him but you don't want to take away any of his warrior killer spirit.Comment

For one, I’d have him throw lower, straighter rights. But Jay Deas already seems to be working on this with him from what we saw with the Ortiz rematch KO. Look at the Fury fight too — Wilder threw looping rights that went over, he corrected this eventually and threw a low right hook that caught Fury as he ducked. He’s learning. Question is, as he gets smarter, he’s also aging. How long can he stay on top?
As for anything else? I’d have him go to the body more. People don’t give him enough credit — he really is a good HW.Last edited by Legends456; 12-16-2019, 03:37 PM. Reason: Stupid auto correct doesn’t know boxing terminologyComment

Also, he could learn how to throw punches in bunches and better combinations because he likes to throw only single punches at a time which is that right hand.Comment
