It’s called boxing, hit and don’t get hit. Utilise movement although it needs perfection. He wasn’t very good at holding because he left Ruiz’s right hand free and he wasn’t leaning on Ruiz. He needed to lean on Ruiz to get him tired then knock him out later. Joshua’s defence is still very suspect but he did what he had to do.

Imagine the old great heavyweight boxers doing that.. it wouldn't happen, when lennox got knocked out by rahman he didn't come back to win on points..
