He may have figured why bother losing the weight? If he isn't doing anything differently, and AJ likely won't learn any new tricks to make him a different fighter, just go in and do what he did last time. That doesn't mean it will work, but he doesn't strike me as a guy who took training all that seriously his entire career, so why start now. I'm guessing that is his mindset.

I also have to wonder if he wasn't over-training to lose the weight and just felt weaker.

I think it's a mind game and his pockets were full aw well as drinking a gallon of water or so ahead of it. Who knows though but he obviously is not 283

He didn't weight 283 lbs and he wasn't fighting at the highest elite level. the best fighter he face beside Joshua is Parker and he lost that fight (according to the scorecards).

When you are at this level, fighting the Wilder, Joshua or Fury's...he need to be in the best shape because those are elite fighters.

After the third round in June he took 2 rounds off with a stunned man in front of him.

That was at 268 and with two back to back training camps. Best shape he'll ever be in.

Of course he can win, but no-one is going to convince me that he's come in at 283 as a result of a good training camp.

"the scale was in kilos and not in pounds"

It's that the worst excuse ever. He knows that it's still the same weight expressed differently, right?

That's before we get to the fact that we saw the scales output... in pounds!

The guy teaches people to punch other people. He's clearly not up on the metric system. LOL.

Will be hilarious if Ruiz pulls it off again. Next fight they will demand an Imperial Weight Only scale.

What does the scale being in Kilos have to do with anything?

He was fat when he won the titles and is still fat now. Won't stop him from putting hands on AJ
