Big money loser as Wilder was on $20 million and Ortiz $7 million to match what he would have made against Joshua. They won't make it up with Wilder vs Fury, neither is a big draw.

I don't get the narrative some push here.

I'm a Wilder fan but I didn't buy this fight and found a stream. I buy good fights but who in their right mind thought this was worth the money?

The undercard was atrocious and Wilder vs Ortiz was a fight we didn't have to pay for the first time around when Ortiz was a year and a half younger. This fight was a complete scam at 75 bucks.

It has nothing to do with Wilder not being able to sell PPVs and with the horrible matchup.

You want people to buy these fight than make good fights. I'm not paying 75-80 to watch one good fighter fight a scrub. I wouldn't pay that to watch Joshua Ruiz 2 either.

Those prices should be reserved for super fights only.

People on here calling this a failure lol. How is making over $22M in PPV revenue a failure? Do any of you understand business? This match is simply buildup to a potential clash with the Ruiz/Joshua winner. Wilder will be fine, he did 250k buys against the relatively unknown Ortiz. Is Ortiz a good fighter? Yes. Is he a popular fighter? No. This makes 250k PPV buys a considerable amount.

When in fact, with no Fury, and no marketable opponent, Wilder still sold over 275,000 buys. So yes, I do think that's impressive.
Anybody with half a brain knew fury wasnt the only one responsible for those buys.

As for the 2nd bolded part. The rematch DID NOT BELONG on ppv as the frist fight was a CLEAR win for Wilder.

275k sold....As I said, theres a sucker born every day.

Here are things EVERYONE should do before commenting on this number:

                1) Find Canelo's last US viewership from the Kovalev fight.

                2) Find out how many US folks see Ruiz vs Joshua 2 (or use the numbers from the first fight if it pleases you).

                3) Find out the US viewership numbers from ESPN+ for Fury vs Wallin.

Those are the fights you compare this to then make your own conclusions.

Outcome is actually decent given the ****ie undercard, but I think Fox and PBC lost money on this one.
Read somewhere wilder was guarenteed $20mil. Add that to ortiz and santacruz pursed, can't see how they came out on the green

                      Lmao, what a failure! Jajajaja!

I feel bad for PBC and its “Til this day” fans, lmao.

Happy for Wilder and Ortiz getting paid though.
