well he doenst seem to know the rules of boxing so thats a bad start or he seems to get amnesia and forget them every time floyd is fighting. kinda weird. clinching, bending below the waist, whatever it is just slips his mind. the fight most people use to deem him a company man is the maidana rematch where he let floyd clinch the entire fight. this was an obvious dress rehearsal for the pac fight where floyd needed someone he could trust. what a surprise bayless got the gig! after being horrible! boxing!

I remember watching him ref Pacquiao vs Marquez II and I thought he was a very good ref.

But really had very little to do and the issues with Bayless is not when you have two fighters wanting to box.

Bayless does not let fighters fight on the inside, as soon as they get close, even if they have one arm free he dives in and splits the action.

What compounds this and makes it worst is when you have a fighter who knows he does this and makes tactical plans to clinch whenever their opponent gets close. If Bayless was strong ref, he would give warnings and deduct points, but he allows this, thus killing a fight and basically allowing the fighter to cheat.

Inside fighting is apart of boxing, tactical clinching isn't, but Bayless prevents the former and allows the latter, this is why he is a very poor ref.
which is why its so hilarious larry is listing pac fights as fights he did well in. when did pac become a fouler? no larry its only fights where one guy wants to skirt the rules that bayless is bad in. that should tell him everything...yet alas no. it involves floyd so his defense matrix went up and nothing can get through to him.

Yeah, I could ref those fights, had barely anything to do.

I love that manipulated gif that made it seem like Bayless stopped Maidana from knocking out Mayweather.

Hes okay. I don't think I've ever really cared who was reffing. If a boxer wants to win they're going to win regardless of the ref. Now the judges is a diffrent story.

Mills when I was a kid but that's because MTV tbh.

Edit Dracula's a great ref too. Forgot him in the original post, there's actually a bunch of good refs I'm sure I'm forgetting, but, Bayless is without a doubt one of the best.
Cortez was my favorite as well.
