Hughie is not championship level. He’s lost all his big fights. Let him guard the gate.

If he was 40 years old with high blood pressure and had never even fought a top contender ...then he would deserve another title shot. Why the **** do Tues writers publish ****** **** like this?? I mean what in the name of God would lead anyone to believe he deserves a title shot or that he is even good enough or relevant enough to care. When he fights a man with any talent he loses and he loses badly. These people are deluded and delusional. Articles like this make me sick because who cares what his dad says. "Shannon Briggs expects Logan Paul to get title shot in 2020 print that too. Can KSI take down Anthony Joshua? Viddel Riley says he can! Amir Khan says he beats Mayweather and Pacquiao in 2020. Can George Foreman beat Deontay Wilder? Larry Merchant says he can! Those last 4 are literally only slightly more absurd than this article. Just a smidge.Comment

Hughie is a good HW but he might not get beyond the fringes of contention. He lost to a 37 year old Pulev & a 39 year old Povetkin. He is still young but there are a number of HWs coming behind him & there are numerous ahead of him still in the current top 10. He is somewhere in the top 11-20 range but another loss could relegate him to a gatekeeper role. He can make a decent living at that level but I doubt he will ever crack the top 10. He needs a good scalp on his resume. Rudenko is probably his best win. Hunter, Joyce & several other HWs are on the brink of passing him in the pecking order. Hes had a title shot & been involved in an eliminator. He lost them both. He will need to string together a couple of wins over top 25 HWs to get back in the title picture. I wont completely write him off yet because I have seen Oleg Maskaev & Oliver McCall lose several fights before they made their runs to a title. Chisora was all but written off until he put together a couple solid wins. He is still very young. He isnt Wladimir Klitschko but he too lost to Puritty, Sanders & Brewster before he put it all together. He does have youth on his side & he is very experienced for a guy so young. I wont write him off yet.Last edited by joe strong; 11-25-2019, 11:17 PM.Comment

Hughie reminds me of those "white hopes" back in the 80s. He's a decent boxer, he's big, he can actually last 12 rounds and is resilient, but he's not very effective.
Possibly he can be tested against some up incoming, like Ajagba or the chinese Zhang and see how hr fares, but I doubt he can get to a title.Comment
