It wasn't a silly obvious quick count, but most certainly wasn't a slow count! Had it been the middle of a round and the ref let it continue, Ortiz would've gotten hurt bad.
All referee's are different. No it wasn't a Jack Reiss' Tyson Fury ten count but at the same time it was a ten count. So I guess it was a discretionary judgement call on Kenny Bayless' part. However, I would loved to have seen Luis Ortiz come out for that eighth round to see what he had left.
Ortiz was basically on his feet and the round near ending, should have let it continune tbh.
But hey ho, the fix was in anyway.
I disagree. All three judges had Deontay Wilder trailing and Luis Ortiz leading on their official scorecards. If Wilder hadn't got that KO chances are he would have lost a decision and we would have had ourselves a new WBC Heavyweight champion.

The referee's count is all that matters... BUT... It's been shown against a stopwatch that Fury was up at 8. So shouldn't be any debate on that one.
By my count Ortiz was up right on 10 so probably just about a ko. I couldn't make out what the referee's count was at when he waved it off.
I do think if you've got a fighter who is likely 4-6 rounds ahead prior to the knockdown round, and the round is over, you give him a chance to get up if he can beat the count. Do Nevada give you the extra time at the start of the next round like they do in NY?
