Nobody really cares much about it. It isn’t going to sell a lot of PPV’s and they can’t sell the tickets at 20% of their original price.

It’s not exactly an appealing rematch to most people when you look at it. Wilder already knocked him out and Ortiz is even older now and looked garbage in his last couple of fights. What’s the selling point that’ll interest anyone except the kind of people that come on this forum? And even most of us wouldn’t buy it.

Of course most of us will watch it one way or another, but it’s of no interest to your average sports fan or casual fan.

The gate will still do either close to two million or surpass that number. Jim Boone is a guy that will say things with an agenda as proven by his tweets about how the Fury fight was going to be a sellout and would sell great....Sure didn't sell bad with a near million dollar gate, but not nearly what he was trying to sell with his tweets....And after he made his Wilder tweet, he said he only does that to draw up interest in the fight and to show people there are great deals to have...Huh?

Fight will also in my opinion sell over 300k PPVs and get close to the 350-400k mark....So better than damn near all PPV cards....But if it is true that the combined purses for both fighters will be around 30M? Will definitely be a loss.

These guys should thank Joshua They both were guaranteed insane purses so PBC wouldn't lose Wilder to Joshua. And they were willing to bankrupt an event completely because of it.

The people complaining about ticket sales are the ticket brokers who have already bought those tickets and trying to resell them. Meaning those tickets are already sold

A financial disaster was the Canelo fight. Over $50 mil in guaranteed purses and the gate was only $8 mil. Add another 500k subscriptions at $20 (that's behind generous) and that's $10 mil. You looking at a loss of over $30 mil for one fight. That's a financial disaster.

It's a subscription service. No-one is basing anything on one fight - that's PPV you're thinking of.

Of course, because they are reliant on Wilder for their business success. If they let Wilder go and fight on DAZN when he was offered mega money to do so, that would have shown significant weakness letting probably their biggest star go to the direct rival.

No. Fox Sports, as any other business, are going to back (finance) projects for future gains. “PBC on FOX” is a brand and they are in critical times to push it. Fox has more money than Showtime, regardless how CBS Sports allocates funding, budgets for Showtime Sports.

So, these purses for Wilder and Ortiz simply means the execs at Fox Sports feel its necessary to justify these premiums when new technologies such as OTT DAZN and ESPN+ are pushing future establishments. It also means and shows that stars can and have always been justified premium pay grades, it was just never in a position to show it self.

It doesn’t matter if PPV isn’t a success. This is the risk Fox Sports want to do regardless and this high portion from its boxing budget is important. If Fox Sports continues to at least provide gains, the investment or premium pay grades are justified. It’s not so much about “losing money.”

Any random bloke that takes out a business loan is on a plan to recover the amount in due time. Like a barista buying all tools upfront and a quality machine... is it a loss if in the first month he doesn’t pay back the bank a huge portion? Of course not.

This is what DAZN haters know. Or I prefer that they are too ****** to understand long term returns.
