Yeah, Larry Holmes is all-time top 5 HWs in history, but dude has the worst persecution complex in history (and I'm including Jesus).

Virtually everybody includes Holmes in their top 10 HWs of all-time and he's mad because he's not getting introduced at fxcking peewee football games and shxt?

Dudes like Emille Griffin are top 20-25 all-time P4P and had to work as crossing guards in their retirement years.

Beau Jack is ATG P4P and had to shine people's gxddamned shoes on the street as an old man.

Larry Holmes seems relatively healthy and wealthy and is widely regarded as an ATG, but spends his time whining about "not getting enough shine".

Larry Holmes is definitely in the top 5 best H.W. of all time, his biggest mistake was beating all the heroes of his time, so he gets punished for beating my favorite and then he beats this or that guys favorite and after all that he beat Spinks and no way in hell were they going to let him near Rocky's record, and then someone asks him about how he felt about not tying or breaking the Brockton block buster's record, after he just got robbed in his fight with Spinks, and out if anger he yells he couldn't carry my jockstrap, he was so upset and rightfully so at that moment, it wouldn't of mattered who was the boxer that he said that about, it just happened to be Rocky Marciano, if it was Mohammed Ali's record he would of yelled the same thing, he was pissed off and he apologized right away to Rocky's family through the media. Wladimir Klitschko is NOT second place in heavyweight defences! You are adding up and combining two different reigns which you can’t do! Holmes defended the lineal title 20 times consecutively. Wladimir had the ****ty WBO title for many of those defences back when nobody respected it. Then his second reign as champion he had the IBF title and a few fights later the WBO again. He didn’t become lineal champ until near the end of his reign so he really has only 3-4 lineal defences. Again, Holmes defended the lineal title 20 times!

Earlier comment nailed it. The problem with Holmes is he beat those everyone else liked. I admit, being young teen at time I was against him. All Holmes proved to me is how to turn dislike into respect. As time goes on I don't think I'll see a better jab. A true champion in a tougher time of fighters.

That young Tyson was able to destroy a great champion like Holmes as he did way back in 1988 should be enough to silence those who say that Iron Mike is overrated.

Even Holmes, in all his greatness, is still bitter for having been knocked out cold by Tyson. And yet, he went on to beat Ray Mercer, and gave Holyfield a good fight years later.

Tyson embarassed him with his fists and Holmes could do nothing. He beats him everytime. Holmes is top 5 all time in my opinion but he would never handle Tyson's style and ferocity.

Larry Holmes is one of the greatest heavyweights who ever lived and I vividly remember watching all of his championship fights as a younger lad. And I thought he got hosed both spinks fights

Evan Fields Holyfield who lost to Bowe twice and may have lost the rematch, lost to Moorer, schooled by Lewis and was stopped by a fat Middleweight 4th all time? I'm not saying he ******, he is NOT 4th all time.

Holmes was great but he beat many inferior fighters like Zanon, Evangelista, Scott Frank,Leroy fatboy Jones, Scott LeDoux etc etc. He didn't fight hungry boxers like Greg Page, Micheal Dokes. That was Don King's fault however, when he went against boxers with good jabs like a Tim Witherspoon or a Carl The Truth Williams he was ordinary. He lost to a Light Heavyweight the great and underated Micheal Spinks clearly in the first fight but should have gotten the rematch. With that said his career did not move the needle. His most memorable fight was against Ken Norton a classic. Top 3 heavyweight title fights ever! That should have been a draw.
Larry deserves more respect. He had more heart than all heavyweights other than ALI. May have had the best jab ever in boxing. Had a great chin. He had a dangerous right that could knock you out. He fought well when tagged. He boxed and controlled the ring he could do it all.

Holyfield built his credit among younger fans after the two Tyson fights (the second of which he would have probably lost, had not Tyson snapped). I was eager to see Holyfield fighting Tyson BEFORE the latter was sent to jail. Unfortunately we are left with mere speculations about that clash.

Worse than losing to Michael Moorer, Holyfield lost to, and drew with, John fùcking Ruiz!

Holyfield was a great fighter, exactly like Holmes, but his image was aggrandized by the media attributing him the role of "savior" against the evil (namely, Tyson).
