For the record, I didn't start out hating on pbc. The first time i watched Wilder was vs this guy called Kelvin prince or whatever his name is. I thought 'wow....this guy is going to take over within 3 yrs' and he also had a good message post fight, something like 'it's important not to just thank God when you win, but also when you lose' or something along those lines. a couple of yrs on and he was actually boxing on an even lower level on an amir khan undercard in the uk. I thought 'this guy should already be at world level and he's boxing fking fraudley harrison in sheffield?' and it hit me...he's being pissed about by a hispanic promotion that are trying desperately to take over the UK market.
Remember oscar even signed anthony ogogo, he was desperately trying to get a major contract with sky sports and take out Eddie hearn. Schaefer was part of that move..and they failed because pbc came along and took everything GBP had except canelo.
If you go and watch that fight, wilder vs audley harrison, look at the reception Wilder got in the UK. British fans immediately liked him. He was not a delusional boxer, confident but not delusional and annoying....but he has changed. in fact AJ was ring side that fight.
What happened was when all these guys signed to pbc, pbc began putting cherry pick fights for their up and coming guys.
that frustrated a lot of fans.
Wilder just didnt step up early like he should have. You think hes better now than he was 6-7 yrs ago? we get weaker in our 30s, we lose bone density, stamina. we absorb less nutrients in our food because our gut health begins to diminish. all types of things affect the body as we get older.
Wilder's time really was 6-7 yrs back. He should have been the one beating the klitschkos.
Now ill respond to what you've said
With guys like Tevin Farmer, Andrade, Jacobs etc. Eddie's position is relative to where they can go at their level. He wants to secure them the highest possible paydays at the very least. anything beyond that is a bonus.
The important thing is Eddie wants them to get the big fights. Luke Campbell vs Lomachenko is a prime example.
What Eddie does is takes them as far as their talents allow them to go whilst securing them paydays, whilst also trying to protect the mythos around them, most of the time.
so when hooker lost to Ramirez, Eddie talked about how Hooker had struggled to make weight and needed to go up.
same thing with Daniel Jacobs.
The important thing is even when eddie has a limited fighter, he will try to deliver the best possible fight for them asap.
Wilder was protected by al haymon. eddie would have rolled the dice years ago and maybe it would mean wilder having an L or more on his record, but he would be far wealthier..and eddie would do it in a way that would protect the mythos around wilder too.
AJ, perfect example, lost to ruiz, still getting £70m from saudis, before we even think about the ppv revenue.
Eddie's sold the rematch.
Haney is 20.
Andrade and Farmer are not known so much because of al haymon. When Eddie signed them, his whole argument was 'wow these guys havent been promoted right'
you cant deny Andrade and farmer are bigger names because of their eddie hearn affiliation.
btw are you forgetting tank was begging for more fights not that long ago?
