I think Kovi didn’t want to take to much punishment and his point was to finish the fight
I think had he opened up earlier it would of been a very early night
Don’t give a chit that he won his last two fights , imo the guy was done even before the fughin first Alvarez fight
People praising him are speaking in nostalgic form cause not hard to see the man is done

Not at all, Kovalev tried to box off the back foot and was winning the fight (albeit not on the cards) prior to the stoppage.

Kovalev was very competitive last night.

Canelo was a 5-1 favorite. There's no reason to act like this was surprising.

Interesting. I saw a few highlights since I posted and Kovalev looked the more active of the two but his punches lacked power. I'm going to sit down and watch the fight. I'm not a fan of either guy and with the rehydration clauses and short turn around I really didn't care when I saw the fight.

Kovalev ostensibly won a lot of rounds on activity just by throwing the jab and keeping Canelo at long range. Whilst Canelo landed the cleaner and more effective punches in the rounds he won. A lot of rounds were subjective tbf.

Good win but Canelo isn’t champion of anything at 175lbs or 168lbs. Sport is a joke with 5 + world titles.
