I haven't seen the contracts that Golovkin and Canelo have but everything I've heard indicates that those contracts don't specify who they have to fight and when they have to fight - but somewhere in them there will be a clause that talks about fighting solid contenders and I think Golovkin was allowed a gimme for his 1st fight.

What other names would satisfy Canelo huge contract. I am sure they will come again with a short list and GGG will be included.

Jermall Charlo (if he wins in December), Callum Smith at 168lbs, and then Andrade and Billy Joe Saunders are all viable options for the fight outside of Golovkin.
