The message was DOA at "Vasily Bumchenko". You lose anyone knowledgeable with that stuff.

Unfortunately for the 'Promoted' or dishonored, somehow now full WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney, he has little choice on the matter if he wants credibility as the legitimate WBC champ, as Haney vs. Campbell was initially the valid contest for the WBC 135 title, but again due to politics Bumchenko robbed Haney of the right.

Looks like all the crying and complaining by Eddie Hearn about the WBC's ruling to make Bumchenko the mandatory turned out well in the end.

The Franchise Belt is a ridiculous new invention created precisely so that high risk fighters like Devin Haney can be avoided.

It will be a good lesson for Haney anyway. I don't put stock in undefeated records so an oppertunity to get schooled by a much better fighter at this time in his career can only help.

So this Belt is created by WBC by a special request of Arum with a case full of cash so a P4P Boxer who beat the shit out of all the competition can avoid Haney who never even fought anyone with a pulse?

          Are you freaking
          serious?

All I know is that Haney and Campbell were in line to fight for the WBC belt that Mikey Garcia vacated. But then Lomachenko was allowed to jump the queue and fight Campbell for the belt instead.

Then, when Haney became mandatory to Lomachenko, Arum asks for the Franchise Champion designation and Lomachenko no longer has to fight Haney.

            Those are the facts.

Haney is a great prospect but he is a complete 100% paper champ that has a belt despite not fighting anyone, similar to Charlo at 160.

The "Franchise" belt is undeniably ridiculous along with the "Interim", "Diamond" and other nonsensical BS belts. I think everyone agrees that in a perfect world there would be one Champion per sanctioning body and mandatory in order of accomplishment.

Lomachanko didn't ask for that moronic "Franchise" belt and doesn't need it to go ahead and fight the Lopez, Commey winner. Unification trumps mandatory and Lomachenko doesn't need anything from the WBC or permission to unify without repercussion, those are the rules.

For reasons mentioned this is where it gets difficult to support Devin, he hasn't actually beaten anyone to get any belt at all. Devin's belt was an arbitrary decision made in an office at 4:30pm on Wednesday so that the WBC could get multiple champions and sanctioning fees based upon big fights.

In short, "Franchise, Interim, Diamond, Silver, World" and all the other belts benefit the sanctioning body by sucking the money from the fighters...it's a money grab.

Haney will show Campbell up for exactly what he is a Euro level operator who convincingly losses everytime he steps up that is being disgustingly overrated because he presented some sort of a challenge to the great white hope.

IF Haney could beat Campbell then Id jump on the hype train and call for a Loma fight but I feel like Haneys team are calling out all these names to gain fame and are not serious about making any of these fights.

Arum asked for Lomachenko to be named Franchise Champion. Lomachenko doesn't have to fight Devin Haney now and I'd wager that he never will.
