...Yeah, and what was with not ging for the kill on thaose occasions when he had Austin hurt. He could have taken him out in the 12th and just sat back right after Austin Wobbled big time. I mean WTF??
I think he just did not have the stamina to go for the kill -- in sharp contrast to the fight with Lance Whitaker.
The motormouthed Atlas kept going on about how they were fighting for the right to face Wlad. Uh, neither one of them wants to face Wlad. Austin, especially, would just be a big heavy bag. Neither is even in the same league.
Sultan allowed himself to be clinched, and didn't follow up the times that he had Austin hurt. Sultan could be really good I think, but his technique needs improvement. I almost felt that it was a replay of the Baker-Castillo fight on the same station two nights before, when Castillo had Baker on ***** street in round one and failed to follow up.
I hate these motormouthed moron announcers - and Atlas is FAR from being the worst of them. I miss the old fashioned announcers like the great Don Dunphy who broadcast the fight and skipped all the endless BS. These guys try to make themselves the star of the show. Bad referees - like Randy Neumann (and they don't make 'em any worse!) - try to do that too.
Both of them would be happy to fight Wlad. Every fighter thinks they have a chance at winning, and the fact that fighting Wlad for the HW championship of the world = $$$$

--- Yes, that is very true, but i was thinking in terms of their health.
Also, Teddy Atlas is the ****.
--- Translation? Does that mean you like him, or hate him? I think he's crap and a dangerous nut case too (re that gun business with LaLonde) - but then the rest of their stable of announcers is even worse!
The fight was not as good as the announcers were trying to make it seem. Basically Austin was keeping him outside with the long jab the whole time and sultan was trying to counter off of those but wouldn't initiate his own offense. every once in a while they would engage and they each got knocked down by solid shots but even that didn't make either one of them risk anything.
I couldn't agree you more. Joe Tessitore kept saying how entertaining this fight was. I thought that maybe I was watching a different fight or maybe it was just more exciting because he was ringside. And who can disagree with this fight being called a draw; neither fighter really looked like he did enough to win.
In any event, I wasn't impressed by either fighter and don't think that Austin or Sultan deserve a title shot. Austin who effectively countered Sultan all night did just that. He never intiated any offense and never took advantage of his opponent after scoring a couple of hard combinations.
As for Sultan, where's all this offense that everyone is raving about? I thougth that he was supposed to have a much higher output of punches per round. Having never really been tested, I think after getting tagged by some good right hands, Sultan respected Austin's punch and as a result the offensive exchanges were few between.
I'm actually glad that this resulted in a draw. Neither fighter gave any indication that they could be game against a much stronger and skillful Klitschko. Besides, who would pay to see Austin or Sultan fight for a title?
