There are differences. Loma only signed with TR guaranteeing pay and accesses to the belts. Arum wanted to stretch it out and Loma said no....Bob had no choice. Devin doesn't have the contract, the muscle or notoriety at this stage.

Lomachenko only signed with TR guaranteeing pay and accesses to the belts. Arum wanted to stretch it out and Loma said no. Bob had no choice and took the deal knowing his fighters would take losses and that he might end up eating the cost.

Devin Haney doesn't have nearly the same contract with Hearn or DAZN. If Devin had the contract he would have, at the very least, forced a fight with Ryan Garcia. In the end Devin doesn't have the same contract, muscle, name recognition or money behind him.

As for previous accomplishments, the two are not in the same league. Out of the box Lomachanko had 5 gold medals, 2 Olympic and vast global notoriety. Like Ray Lenard, Loma was A side on day one.

Don't get me wrong, Haney might be the next big thing but he's not getting Loma in 2019 and may not in 2020 when Lomachenko fights the winner of Lopez and Commy. Lopez has been calling out Loma much longer than Devin and its a bigger more publicized event. Devin has only had the belt for two months and nobody is going to clammier to see Devin Haney over the winner of Commey vs Lopez.

Calling out Loma is a great strategy but he really needs to do more in the ring. A fight with Ryan Garcia or Tank or someone that people know would go a long way.

Brainwashed By Arum or not doesn't account for the massive disparity in accomplishment or explain Devin's lack there of.

If his goal is to get a mandatory shot, then who cares about the disparity in accomplishment ?

Lomachenko’s last two fights were against Luke Campbell and Anthony Crolla for Christ’s sake! There’s not much difference between their resumes and Haneys.

I get Crolla was a world champ. But he beat Darleys Perez for the belt.

Luke Campbell was a gold medalist but hasn’t done jack as a pro.

Miss me with the disparity in accomplishment. Lomachenko fights plenty of C level guys.

Haney is brainwashed by the WBC paying sanctioning fees and letting them **** him over like this.

Lomachenko was a two time amateur world champion and a two time olympic gold medalist when he turned pro. Haney was just a decent prospect who has been pushed along because he is American.

Lomachenko got a title shot because it was the friggin' WBO, and Bob Arum called it in.

Let's not act like the shot came on any merit.

We'll see what Haney turns into, but he basically signed with Matchroom because Hearn showed up with the bag of money, was willing to run it as a joint venture with Haney's company, and Hearn sold Haney and his father on his believed quick path to a shot at the WBC 135lb belt (Mikey was a free agent and champion who was looking at opportunities back down from 147lbs, Campbell was the #1 WBC challenger, and there was a path to get Haney into the top 3 of the WBC rankings).

Tough titty to that plan, as the WBC has been more than open to try and push for divisional consolidation, and bad luck that Bob Arum got his hands on the belt and will stall things out/speed things up to achieve his own goals (Lomachenko sitting out until seeing if Teofimo wins in December, and assuming that no injuries occur, would put April as the earliest fight return for Lomachenko).

                  So, he's stuck for now.

Update: seems like the WBC saw the scheme to, so they gave Lomachenko the emeritus champion, in essence stripped him, and elevated Haney to full champion.

Who he's going to fight now (with no way to pressure Lomachenko, Mikey Garcia likely moving to 140lbs if he can't get Pacquiao, and Tank Davis building his own pot at 130lbs)?

If he feels he can beat him then wats so bad about getting decent wins under your belt first so u have more to stand on beside fans, and the "eye test"

That’s exactly the most any boxing fan could hope for. The better guy getting the win. The fights happening sooner than later. But honestly we will be lucky if it ever happens let alone soon. The whole point is to be able to get to the top even if ur overrated. That’s the goal. Haneys team isn’t looking to fight Loma now, they looking to get as far as Loma has.
