I don't think he is cherrypicking in any way. I don't like how they all conspired against Charlo and I would prefer a fight in the division that brings us closer to a unified division-so Andrade or Charlo would've been my choice.
No complaints from me about Canelo's resume. I wouldn't say it's a difficult fight for Canelo (he is a 4-1 favorite). I think it's a smart, calculated risk that he will get proper credit for should he win, which I expect he will.
I don't think so in regards to being tougher. Too often when we talk about fights involving PBC fighters, all the talk is about the PBC fighters shortcomings while his positives are always overlooked or minimized because people don't like Haymon. I am not suggesting Canelo wouldn't be favored over Charlo, I just think looking at (for example) the Korobov fight and assuming Charlo fights the same way is not a smart way to assess the situation.
Charlo is younger and faster than Kov. he brings a lot to the table. He isn't perfect and has vulnerabilities and flaws, but at MW he is high risk for anyone.
Well i don't like it when a fighter is left out either and i don't think a fighter should have to sign with a certain promoter in order to get certain fights. All the top fighters in every division should be fighting each other regardless of promoter.
Now i understand promoters are aligned with certain networks so that becomes a problem but im sure all promoters could work together and send fighters back and forth accross different networks to make certain fights if they really wanted to....
But i feel that the same way DAZN is excluding Charlo from major fights, Al Haymon and PBC are excluding Crawford from major fights. And that sucks for us fans.
I blame all promoters for things like that..
And I'm not saying Charlo doesn't have talent or potential or that he can't beat Canelo. This is boxing and anything can happen.
I just feel that in his past 3 fights Charlo hasn't improved much.
Every fight is different so i agree that we shouldn't judge Charlo completely based off his past few fights but i just think Canelo has improved with each additional fight while Charlo hasn't really progressed lately....
It would be a great fight and i would love to see Canelo and Charlo trade punches. I'd favor Canelo to outbox Charlo but like i said before, i definitely wouldn't count out Charlo.
He's big and strong and athletic and he would give anyone and everyone at middleweight problems.Comment

Charlo is gonna have to do the same and jump to 168 to get the big fights. No MW at PBC worth talking about for him unless they get Derevyanchenko.168 they have Plant, Benavidez etc...
Andrade, Canelo, GGG and Jacob's seem out of reach at this point.Comment

Without fckin question the realest post in this thread.Canelo already beat the two other top middleweights in Triple g and Jacobs.
If people think Canelo is cherrypicking by fighting Kovalev next then oh well. He deserves it after fighting Triple g and Jacobs in his past three fights.
NOBODY IN ALL OF BOXING is fighting the level of competition Canelo is on a regular basis.
Real unbiased boxing fans know that kovalev isn't an easy fight for Canelo.
Kovalev might be the easiest champ to beat at light heavyweight but Canelo isn't a light heavyweight so this is a very difficult fight for Canelo so IDK how the fucc people can call this a cherrypick... It's not!
This version of Kovalev is a more difficult fight for Canelo than a prime Charlo.

Kovalev needs someone who can carry him fast like Ward did in both their fights.
Canelo, due to stamina issues, is unable to do that. Talent wise definitely, but he ain't got that unyielding stamina that Ward has to make you fight for your life every second of the fight.
No doubt Canelo will employ some of the Andre Ward tactics, but if his plan hinges on carrying Kovalev at a fast pace it's not gonna work because he has the same stamina issues that Kovalev has, he's just better at making provision for them.
What I mean by that is that Kovalev was the crusher, so he always fought at his own pace because his devastating power meant that people were unable to take risks with him and therefore expose his weaknesses, and those who did take risks got dropped or hurt badly and fought differently from then on.
Ward however exposed those weaknesses despite getting dropped early in the first fight.
Now everyone wants to fight Kovalev.
Canelo on the other hand was never this destroyer who was terminating everyone, so he got to learn about his strengths and weaknesses very early and was able to adapt accordingly.
But now Kovalev has learned about his strengths, weaknesses, and limits. This fight is gonna be harder than Canelo is expecting it to be, but good luck to him. I applaud him for having the courage to reach for greatness.
Yes Kovalev is the most vulnerable right now of the champs at 175, but he is no cherry pick, not by any stretch of the imagination. This will be a legacy defining win for Canelo.
outstanding post !
how come you are not in the red ?Comment
