Charlo is wrong and then he is right. I can still hate on Canelo plenty, for many things. But hats off to him for choosing Kovalev. I accused him of nipping up to 168 to take a soft touch but i cant accuse him of it this time. Kov may be seen as the weakest champ to some people but hes not shot yet, hes aging, the beer and career is catching up with him now but hes not done yet, hes still got enough left in his legs to be a very dangerous fighter for a decent portion of the fight.

And when Canelo moved up to face Rocky Fielding he was facing a soft touch compared to the big dogs at the weight, he did very well but he looked small. If Canelo had chosen to draw the line at 154 id of understood, hes built up really well to 160 but he still looks like a smaller one. At 175 these are big guys and Canelo never even tasted the water at the top of 168.

I honestly thought it was just attention grabbing when i 1st heard about it as a potential match up, not that he needs to do any of that, but i didnt really believe they were guna do it. Big ask for Canelo i feel. If Kovalev knocks him out there is no shame at all, he dont belong at 175. But if he can do something and makes Kovalev work hard for 6 rounds then the 2nd half could be very interesting.

I'm amazed that you sound like "DaNeutral" instead of"DaFullySlanted". Seriously though that was a great post that shows ppl are starting to wake up to how crazy on paper it is for the cashcow to jump 2 weights vs the biggest puncher at lhw before Beterbieve came on the scene,& with no stipulations,& when hes already small for mw let alone lhw(& without a cw Kov will weigh like 191 which is impossible for Nelo to weigh on fight night. )

I think it's starting to dawn on people that Nelo has a much bigger chance at being kod than everyone was already saying vs ggg Kov punches MUCH harder than ggh imho, that's risky enough even before taking into account Kovs current run. If Canelo was to actually ko the much bigger very skillful fighter then god damn!!

“I think he will beat Kovalev,” Charlo said. “He’s younger, hungrier and the situation is [made] for him. Kovalev is a strong fighter, a big guy, tall and rangy. So, styles make matchups. Canelo’s gonna come straight to him and Kovalev is gonna have to box. Canelo’s kinda faster than [Andre] Ward, so his size will make the difference. We’ll get the chance to see what Kovalev will do. Canelo’s the favorite because the situation is for him. You’ve gotta knock him out.”

I think that Charlos assessment has a good chance of being at least somewhat correct. But this is how I see it: Canelo will alternate between aggressive/passive style throughout the fight. Early on he will try to get an early lead by boxing smart & potshotting kov with left hooks to the body followed by straight rights to the face & sometimes in 4 punch combos up/down stairs with r hooks to the body alternating.

As the fight goes on a few rds & he feels safely acclimated that he can take lhw punches, nelo will start bumrushing kov & smothering him a la Beterbieve,& it will coincide with Kov boxing smart from outside on his end.

Nelo will become the aggressor & kov will be happy to try outboxing him with his much longer reach to avoid deadly body shots that by now would've made him wince like a fat broad on her rag, meanwhile canelo will be completely focused on avoiding the deadly jab kov will throw nonstop with his own r hook to the body now & again, Canelo will be making Kov pay for every few jabs by constant counter combos to the body that will make it worth eating several various shots to the head esp. jabs a la ggg 1&2. Bottom line is that Kov has among the best most powerful jabs in the game,he will be looking to outbox

Canelo most the fight from range (which is smart,& he will throw many more volume than nelo knowing his head movements insane) even though Nelo says hes gonna try outboxing him,I think my assessment is what he'll actually do because he knows outboxing will make ppl cry robbery.

"...the WBC oddly elevated Alvarez to the 'unprecedented' status of Franchise Champion".LOL
Franchise Champ is an honorary title.

The deal is Alvarez says he wants to make history.
But he's doing it in a "calculated" way.
Canelo fought a very weak champ at 168.
Now he's fighting possibly the most vulnerable champ at 175.
I give him credit for moving up in weight and taking a risk.
But don't forget, they're calculated risk.
