Growing up it seemed like there was no bigger Mike Tyson fan than me. I picked him to win every fight that he fought because truthfully, he could have beaten everyone he faced. Mike just had a habit of beating himself. After the Douglas fight, Mike did not handle adversity well. Against Lewis, Tyson fought the first round then lost his whole drive to fight. Mike Tyson accepted his bad boy persona but did not manage it well. He let his own hype get carried away along with himself. His development went very stagnant after Cus D'amato died. Mike was like a wrecking ball that couldn't stop wrecking himself. And I dont believe anybody could seriously train him with his demeanor, money, and ego. Yes, there were people that took advantage of him, but he never really managed how to deal with the hurt from people that he gave his full trust to. I'm just glad Mike is still around and he didnt turn out to be a tragic story. Overrated or underrated, we're still talking about Mike Tyson so he made a huge impact on the sport. That cant be contested.

Tyson overrated? Tyson in his early 20's was a phenom, a boxing machine. He needed a father figure to keep it all together. Without that, he was consumed by the sinful world of the rich and famous.

It's just an excuse to try and make it seem like Tyson was magically inferior by 1990. He was still in his prime when he fought Ruddock.

People just have this misconception because Tyson stopped 1 round knocking people out.

The competition just improved. Ruddock, Holyfield, Lennox aren't sunday service shuttle drivers.

The top 4 HWs of his era:

                    - Lennox
                    - Bowe
                    - Holyfield
                    - Mercer
