"The Cat" Usyk vs "Rocky" Marciano in a war: who wins?

That's a pretty weak response. Don't use boxrec or YouTube and I will agree with you. Sorry if you are making an allegation like that you need to provide some proof. He grew up in an area where the Italian Mafia was prevalent. Not knowing someone connected was unlikely. Mobsters liked hanging around with celebrities it gave them some legitimacy or so they thought. Show me something that proves his fights were fixed. Nat Fleisher checked into his record and as far as he was concerned it was legitimate.Comment

Correct. Holyfield was a proven drug cheat. This is why I don't support him or his entire run at heavyweight. He was even juicing at cruiser.Comment

If someone with Usyk's ability was fighting in the 40s or 50s he'd probably be talked about as the undisputed GOAT today. The way I see it is Gassiev would bully Marciano and Marciano's era was primitive compared to todayComment

Here's the guys they are saying are better than Gassiev:
Remember, Harold Johnson had beaten Charles before Marciano did, here's Harold Johnson against Oakland Billy Smith. I am dying to hear the arguments for how Smith is better than Gassiev:
Really, can anyone tell me what any of Marciano's opponents had over Gassiev?
Gassiev, clearly, is more one-dimensional. But he's technically sound, effective, and bigger than anyone Maricano fought.Comment

There is not one attribute, whether it be physical or technical which Usyk has which you can describe as great. Usyk does not hit particular hard, his defense is really simple, and his speed is nothing special. Usyk is just a fundamentally sound fighter, who is good in every area.
When you are a fighter moving up through the weight classes, you need a area of your game which is great. David Haye had abnormal punching power, speed and immense defensive capabilities, Evander Holyfield had near physical Invulnerability, immense physical strength, a great engine couple with complete all around boxing skills 'Holyfield was a complete fighter, there was nothing inside of the ring he could not do'.
I have stated this afew times? I would give David Price & Derek Chisora a chance of being Usyk, I honestly do not understand the mass hysteria over his boxing skills or ability as a fighter.
It is really bizarre, it is as if people are suffering from cognitive dissonance 'Did anybody see his last fight? And people within the boxing community are trying to insinuate that Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua etc are afraid our weary of Usyk? Very bizzare behavior, but I think it is just the way society is going,
'None of the top heavyweights are afraid of Oleksandr Usyk'.Comment

Archie Moore - 188lbs, 5'11", 38 years old
Ezzard Charles - 192.5lbs, 6'0", 33 years old
Joe Louis - 207lbs, 6'2", 37 years old, previously retired
Joe Walcott - 194lbs, 6'0", 39 years old
Gassiev - 198.5lbs, 6'4", 24 years old
Bellew - 199lbs, 6'3", 35 years old
Briedis - 199lbs, 6'1", 33 years old
Glowacki - 199lbs, 6'0", 30 years old
Marciano - 188lbs, 5'10
Usyk - 215lbs, 6'3
Marciano's opponents physically don't compare giving their age and size to Usyks opponent who could gain another 10+lbs on fight night and are much less worn in general. Usyks opponents are talented even if you argue Marcianos opposition was more so my opinion is their size and youth makes them harder fights.
I'd have to put my money on Usyk as Marciano never got to fight anyone elite in their prime or as big Usyk.Comment

What ability? People speak as if Usyk has revolutionize boxing from a technical perspective, doing things boxing fans have never seen before. His boxing skills are completely and utterly overrated, he was being out boxed by Tony Bellew 'Who was dead at the weight, by the time he moved back down to cruiser-weight'.

Usyk could fight Bellew 1000 times and beat him 1000 times but look like chit 1000 times out of 1000 for the first 5 rounds. He isn't the most entertaining fighter but you'd be a fool to underestimate his fighting IQ. There are literally 'tens' of factors running through your head as a fighter if you are intelligent like Mayweather, Usyk etc. and you are constantly gauging your opponents' strengths and weaknesses throughout a fight/boxing match. Usyk hansn't come up short thus far for a reason.,
Marciano is a legend, not many would dispute that. But he is a legend of his era, and that era has been surpassed significantly.
EDIT; Also agree that Holyfield AND Haye make better HWs than Usyk. Price and Chisora most definitely can beat Usyk.Last edited by 'b'; 10-22-2019, 05:27 AM.Comment
