He's not a bad guy and represented his community well while he fought even though many ding dongs wouldn't refer to him as true Mexican. Very insulting for a true Mexican Warrior.
Well put. He fought everyone. I don’t remember fights being a nightmare to make with him either. He’s gotta be up there with all the most important fighters ever. I didn’t root for him in all his fights, but I knew he’d be in shape and give it his all. He wasent afraid of anyone. I wish more fighters could develop a consistent and effective style like he did. Wild Slugfests are fun to watch for sure, but they aren’t that impressive from a sweet science stand point.

Yes he was PPV gold. Every fight he had was worth watching at a high level and action packed.

Must watch event for sure. I remember they would pan into the crowd often and comment how many females were in attendance for his fights. Even if they started as just Oscar fans, I’m sure he turned a lot of them into actual boxing fans. I’d have loved to see him vs Nelo. I know he can out sing him.

Oscar was very good , but I doubt he wipes out the top guys now because they were the types that gave him tough fights, not saying he couldnt beat them but the likes of Spence TC etc are in the very least Ike Quartey and Oba Car level, I think they are higher but for the thread there are parallels, Oscar was a hell of a fighter but he didnt wipe out all his opponents he had some highly competitive contests.

Dont matter what era or who we talking about, the very best guys have little between them, in fact mere milliseconds that can change history on any given night, its why boxing is so special.

Good post. I try not to look back with rose coloured glasses. Oscar was a great fighter, he buries them all as far as an attraction. Also he fought everyone which I don’t see any of them come close to duplicating. I don’t think top guys were ever “easy work” for Oscar but that’s what makes me appreciate his wins. I think he is good enough to potentially beat them all but the odds are he’s never run the table.

I was a big fan of Oscar he was a real fighting pit bull behind the glamor boy image, Manny Stewart said he was a straight up killer in the ring, I think you nailed it with " he could beat them all but never run the table ", fits ODH perfectly .
