DAZN got played by Derevyanchenko his team colluding with GGG's promoter inflated the price tag for Derevyanchenko. Now you forced to pay a fighter who's career payday was couple hundred thousand

Daniel Jacobs beat Sergiy Derevyanchenko by split decision on Saturday night to claim a vacant 160-pound world title.

They slugged some more in the 11th round, but it was Jacobs, with his powerful right hand, who did the damage. Derevyanchenko, whose official purse was $462,500 but will make more, was taking big, deep breaths late in the round.

Yet he attempted to extort Canelo and DAZN and he used GGG to keep inflating and increasing the asking price. GGG camp was in negotiations with Derevyanchenko at the same time they were making demands with Canelo. It's why the day Canelo was stripped by IBF it was reported that GGG and Derevyanchenko had already agreed in principal to fight. The same day why so fast? Because they were already talking going back and forth for weeks with BOTH Canelo and GGG camps and knew they could get close to the same money to fight GGG and they simply took GGG the easier fight of the two.

If you are DAZN how do you feel about one fighter under contract talking and being used to increase the amount you have to pay fighter not under contract?

He isn't making more he's making slightly less Canelo offered him 5.5M then were demanding 7M and running out the clock they had to negotiate.

GGG is a horrible contract but that's not the issue here they knew you had to overpay to sign Canelo, GGG to get big star names. The problem is you now have a guy who has no fanbase and career payday was 400K and you paying that guy 5.2M to fight GGG? For a fight that has no buzz has been doing terrible in ticket sales. DAZN locked up fighters under contract that part is great but has let non DAZN fighters extort and and use it's own fighters as leverage against them to increase their paydays against you 10-20X market value to fight your guys. And in this case GGG colluded with Dervychanko to drive up the price while IBF had Canelo and Dervychanko order to fight. Canelo had 2 options continue to let the price drive up and be extorted or go to purse bid which requires Canelo to hand over 35% of his purse which was never going to happen. Keeping the IBF belt is not worth paying a nobody 6M or 7M or who know how high it would of went.

Why are fans surprised with the purses? GGG = ''$100 million''
        bigdunny1

Now I understand the ''equity part.'' Now it all makes sense! They just used ''$100 mil'' for publicity particularly for GGG. So in reality his purses have been $7.5mil, the rest is GGG's saved ''stock'' investment. It's a way of saying, ''we really can't pay you this much, but when DAZN grows (past non risk) to justify your contract, then we'll give you what's owed.''

Notice below is the reason why DAZN and GGG needed Canelo. GGG would get a massive purse equaled to 3 fights and the rest, minimal purses would be distributed while GGG takes easier fights to retirement.

        GGG Rolls = $15 million
        GGG Devry = $15 million
        GGG vs x3 = $17.5 million
        GGG vs x4 = $17.5 million
        GGG vs x5 = $17.5 million
        GGG vs x6 = $17.5 million

GGG never got equity that reporting was disputed even by Hearn himself who said that is not true he was not getting equity in DAZN.

But the 100M contract line is BS. DAZN has never confirmed that amount. He's getting 15M a fight with reports that number jumps up 10 or 15M if he fights Canelo. There was also GGG himself on the day he signed saying he doesn't even know if he will fight all 6 fights and DAZN hasn't even stated that GGG is guaranteed money for all 6 fights. Meanwhile when Canelo signed DAZN themselves verified the 365M deal themselves. They stayed silent on GGG because like always GGG is butt hurt about Canelo and didn't want people to know all those details that show Canelo makes drastically more money and that GGG's contract is tied to Canelo to max out on that deal. That's why they (GGG) leaked the equity lie which Hearn denied and DAZN have never confirmed to be true. GGG camp leaked that he is making 100M when he really isn't especially if Canelo refuses to ever fight him again. He's getting 15M and who knows if those back end fights are even guaranteed for any amount.

Glad they are getting paid but this is not a 20 million dollar fight.

It is not even in the big room in the Garden.

No wonder the undercard is so weak.

I mean remember the PBC was also offering GGG 8 figures a fight, so DAZN pretty much had to give him what he got. He, along with his team did some great negotiating.

One of DAZN's exec already came out and said they won't be spending like this going forward and they just had to spend a bunch to get in the game. The entire signing of GGG is traced to the trilogy with Canelo happening. If they get that fight, then they will be fine with the deal as that is still a HUGE fight that will attract a good amount of subscribers. If that fight doesn't happen? Then obviously it's going to end up looking pretty bad.
Is Canelo’s deal not spread evenly across fights? I assumed it was 365m divided by 11.

They might have to keep spending like that though. Say they signed a massive name next year, they’re not going to take any less than the other big names are earning. It reminds me of the WCW wage structure and they eventually went under.

I think it’s going to be a lot harder to recoup money with no PPV upside, on DAZN the mega fights are ostensibly the same price as the minor fights. How many guys subscribing to watch Canelo one month will continue to subscribe the next month?

He signed to fight on DAZN against Fielding before signing his 10 fight deal.

Well, I mean they will have to spend big on certain fighters, but they won't be throwing around a million to Farmer to fight on a UC when he has no fan base at all. I think that is what he was trying to say.
