If Crawford can? That's a big statement. But it's just a perfect fight before the big showdown. We will have something to compare both fighters performances against a common opponent.

Why Arum is dismissive of Porter is baffling to me.
I remember an old article back in the day, maybe 10/12 years ago, about Pacquiao sparring with Porter at the wild card. Porter used to give Pac hell during their sessions, but Pac would give just as much back. Not sure if that has anything to do with how Arum is thinking....hopefully i the old man listens to reason

The thing is, Arum has been trying hard to diminish the PBC WWs saying they are all average minus Spence. He's doing that to show Crawford that he's really not missing out on any big fights and he has just as good WWs in his stable. But in reality, he's hurting Crawford by making these statements and by downplaying these potential fights. This is going to be on Crawford and only Crawford to force these fights and go against Arum. I mean it is clear why Arum doesn't want these fights as he will have to put it on PPV and according to him, he took a big loss on the Khan PPV.

Well if he doesn't then his career is headed to the toilet. He has absolutely know one to seriously challenge or threaten him over there at Top rank.

They don't have the deep stable of fighters at Welterweight as the PBC does. Crawford is wasting his prime years at ESPN. Manny Pacquiao knew this. That is why he woke up and smelled the coffee before it was too late.

Now his career has had a resurgence because of it. Had he stayed with Arum his career would have dried up and withered away like Crawford's is projected to do. I have never seen Pac this happy in a very long time.

It's almost like he's had a rebirth since signing with the PBC and Al Haymon. He is feeling like a kid in a candy store again.

Now he has his choice of fighting any challenger at 147 at the moment.

Well, or he can just tell Arum to seriously consider potential opponents such as Porter and do what he has to do to make the fight happen. Arum already is saying he doesn't think Porter is worth 5M and that fight isn't big at all. In that case then what is a big enough fight for Crawford if the Spence one isn't happening until late 2020? That's on Crawford to force Arum's hand. If he is fine with fighting guys like Mean Machine and making a great pay day? Then so be it, nothing wrong with that.

And it isn't about wanting the Spence fight. That is perfectly fine and we ALL want that fight. HOWEVER, he shouldn't be downplaying guys like Porter and saying he isn't a big name and isn't that good of a fighter. Arum SHOULD be getting slack for not wanting to put Crawford in with other top WWs. So just because he wants the Spence fight, it is okay for Crawford to fight less than top competition? He should be fine fighting guys like Benavidez and Mean Machine the rest of his career?
I'd love to see Crawford vs porter, but I highly doubt they're gonna make a fight vs spence's leftovers while trying to market their guy as the premier ww in the world. if they start talks and arum prices his guy out, that's one thing, but the other side is not willing to do the fight at all.

Don't we get these types of stories about his fighters just before they announce they're fighting bums?

Remember when Bob thought he had the bigger draw he said "I will not make the fight until its a PPV". Then, when Crawford's PPV didn't move as expected (in part because Bob fails to market/promote him well in urban areas) then he decided to call for the fight.

Now Spence plans to fight Danny (his mando) and Manny (cash grab unification) and Bob doesn't have opponents that can help Crawford sell so he will be losing more money until Spence fights Crawford. That is why he says he wants to make the fight now, not for the fans.

I want to se the fight just like you but Bob is getting what he deserves.
if the shoe was on the other foot, I'd be calling for the fight just the same...simply because I want to see who's better. this fight needs to happen in 2020 imo. they can't let Crawford keep fighting lesser opponents if they want to build a big ppv, and I think arum knows this. I'm not sure haymon really cares about making a big ppv vs Crawford...he's just gonna milk spence until there's no in house fights left. that's the sure bet to the most $$$ from his perspective.

I agree the fight needs to happen in 2020. I am hopeful Haymon isn't planning on doing that but there is a chance that he fights Manny and then goes to 154 to fight the stable of JMW's.

A lot of really great possible fights, but not SPence/Crawford which would be terrible for the sport and for fans.

So you are telling me that Spence/Garcia had say 350k PPV buys at $75 a pop, which comes out to $26.25M and when you take out network/cable distributions, it comes out to about 12-13M along with a 4.7M gate to go along with sponsorship/international TV money and Spence only made 3M? That would be borderline ROBBERY done by his team if that was the case.

By Keith Idec - DALLAS – Mikey Garcia is realistic. The undefeated four-division champion understands that four inches, 15 to 20 pounds and 24-0 aren’t the only

And later or possibly before this article, he said Spence's guarantee was 9M and Garcia's guarantee was 8.5 million.

Then Copp said this in his chat two days ago:

So yeah, these figures I'm throwing out aren't made up. Actual boxing folks are saying this.
Jesus, well then can you cite specific information from Mr. Coppinger that details Spence's contracted financial arrangement with regard to PPV and gate cut? Mr. Coppinger is a boxing writer for The Athletic. He is not a member of Errol Spence's management or legal teams, as far as I am aware. You may not be making things up, but you are simply deciding to believe uncorroborated information that supports your argument - like everybody else in the world.
