Povetkin fought an unbeaten AJ, in the UK, which was something Wilder didn't have the stomach for. He also fought Wlad, another man Wilder avoided like the plague. Nobody should question Povetkin's courage and willingness to take risks.

Btw, the info you gave me on lineal titles and Ring magazine was very useful in helping me get a proper perspective on what lineal titles mean - or don't mean - in the present era. I'll go back to that thread and tell you what i came up with when I have a bit more time.

I'm still working on it. I turned that into a whole history of ring bit. Honestly, the question made me feel sheepish as ****. When I did authorities I should have done Ring and really, I hardly mention them in that thread or anywhere I've posted that info.

i really appreciate the prompt, it's something to sink my teeth into.

As far as Povetkin goes, yes, I'm aware of his illustrious three unbeaten fighters in a pro career that's had him at top ten since 08 and in an era with more unbeaten heavyweights than any era before it. Picking up two wins over two guys who never did anything in the division and losing to the only unbeaten fighter he ever fought that had success in the division.

    Kinda, my point bud.

You can talk all you want about what you think happened between Wlad, Wilder, and Joshua, doesn't change the fact that all three of those guys have more 0s does it?

I was speaking to how much easier a leftover is. Much easier than being the guy who actually exposes weaknesses and flaws. Wlad's not just better than Pov, he's much better. Wlad got a UD on Wach, Pov KO'd him. Wlad's still much better than Pov is now or ever was his entire career.

Speaking of guys with more 0s on their resume, what the **** was Tyson doing fighting Wlad before fighting Povetkin? How come Bermane fought for the vacant WBC against Chris while Pov's ass steered clear of both? Why did Ruiz, Joshua, Parker, and Wilder all fight for titles before seeing Povetkin?

Dude has been top ten for over a decade now, who in that time did he even try to stop from getting a title before him? No one, not a single man who debuted well after Pov was already top ten had to fight Povetkin at any point during their rise to any title fight.

All four ladders, ranks, covered, multiple youngbucks ducked, it ain't Pov being scared of the unknown....he fought Joshua eventually..whooo

No one has been in better position to fight and beat these kids we call great now other than Sasha and what did Sasha do? Beat up Chagaev and Rahman years after Wlad did? Knocked out Rahman quicker than Wlad did? Beat up Johann after Wilder beat up Johann?

Super impressive killer. I'm sure his ass will be ready to fight Parker real soon. That'll show me. Maybe he'll fight Ortiz after Wilder. Real impressive that, beating Ortiz.

LMAO! As if Povetkin had a snowball in hell's chance of getting a shot at the WBC title against either of those 2 stiffs Stiverne and Arreola! The WBC even denied Wlad the chance to fight for their vacant belt after his brother retired.

Don't you get it ... that belt was earmarked as Wilder's property after Vitali retired!

Povetkin beat Takam and Perez when they were considered real threats to anybody in the division. He tried as hard as he could to fight Wilder.

Why didn't Wilder offer to fight Povetkin as a voluntary after Sasha was cleared of the meldonium charge? He went back and "blessed" old man Ortiz with a second chance after he was given the benefit of the doubt over the steroid masking agents he tested positive for, why couldn't he do the same for Povetkin?

Why did Wilder not want to fight Povetkin?

Why didn't Wilder fight Parker, Ruiz, AJ, Whyte, Pulev, or Fury, before Tyson went off the rails?

And most damning of all ... why did he blatantly and publicly duck a 4 belt unification with Wlad after he was handed the WBC title on a plate?

"Deontay is just a baby at this. We're not going to rush him into a fight with Klitschko" ~ Shelley Finkel, who was acting as Wlad's US business rep at that time and could have made the fight as easily as snapping his fingers if he and Wilder had wanted it.

Wilder was an Olympic medalist, 29 years old, 33 - 0 when Finkel said that. Later that same year, Wlad was dethroned by Fury, who was 27 yo and 24 - 0.
